They've taken everything we loved about the series and tossed it out the window, replacing it with a never-ending stream of poorly animated, mind-numbing cutscenes. The weapons are pitiful, the storyline is laughably bad, and they've stripped away the multiplayer component entirely that we enjoyed in SW2.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Prepare to rage as you randomly die from a jump that's shorter than a toddler's leap, while miraculously surviving falls from skyscraper heights. The game's logic is a maddening rollercoaster ride that leaves you questioning the developers' sanity.
Don't even get me started on the voice acting! The main character Wang and his buddy Hoji sound like they've been plucked from the bargain bin of voice talent. It's excruciating to listen to.
The level design is lazy at best, with trees swaying going through buildings and mountains and water that defies the laws of physics looking like fog. Exploration is a joke, and the game's a measly 5 hours long, a complete cakewalk. It's like the developers deliberately set out to destroy everything that made Shadow Warrior great.
The numbers speak volumes. Shadow Warrior 3 is a ghost town with a paltry 26 active players at the time of writing while being on sale for 6 dollars. Compare that to Shadow Warrior 1 and 2, which still boast thriving player bases. The developers have utterly butchered the franchise, and it's crystal clear that nobody wants any part of this monstrosity.
I can't fathom what the developers were thinking. Shadow Warrior 3 is a disgrace, a stain on the legacy of a beloved series that dates back to the '90s. It offers absolutely nothing of value, and the fact that the developers were content with this abomination hitting the shelves is beyond comprehension.
I love the Shadow Warrior series, but this game? It's the worst thing I've had the misfortune of playing this year, hands down. I paid 6 bucks for this dumpster fire, and I can't shake the feeling that I've been swindled. Avoid this game like the plague.
I paid 6 bucks for this awful game and I feel like I got ripped off.
