Fact check: this one falls to 400MB/sec after write cache is full: https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...d-review/3

"Once the pSLC cache is full, the P41 Plus begins writing directly to the QLC, which is much slower at around 400MBps."

There is no DRAM on this drive, and it is QLC.

It's still 3x faster than the best pcie 3 drive fyi. Under load all ssds will run out of cache eventually and fall down to a base speed which for 3.0 drives is 500-700mbps but this drive is over 1500mbps and it doesn't have a dram cache. The reason why is because it's got a stellar controller and firmware that controls it

I'm running this exact SSD on my ps5, it works like a charm, games load just as fast as the internal SSD

It's a little bit of a toss up. They use the same QLC flash. The 670p is an older controller and PCI-E 3 but has DRAM. This has a newer controller with PCI-E 4 which can perform a bit better in the appropriate M2 slot because of that but doesn't have DRAM. The biggest case I know of where there is a difference is the PS5. It will work with this drive but not a 670p because it requires a PCI-E 4 drive. Outside of that scenario I doubt many people would be able to tell the difference between the two.

He probably mixed this up with P44 Pro... but yes P41 plus is basically a PCIE gen 3 drive with a gen 4 interface

Fact check. Under 50gb folder transfer is 1600mbps write. Copy transfer 1000mbps. Read transfer 2600mbps from Tom's hardware same page you shared. Thanks for playing

This is a great drive if your doing large video file transfers. Something that I deal with quite often and I find gen 3 drives with dram cache never come anywhere near this drives performance.

So think about this. 50gb. Most dram cache drives get pretty full during a file transfer that large. I have some crucial and sk hynix drives with dram cache and I'm file transferring 30-60gb files and it's surprising to watch them fall to 230mbps. This Solidigm would be a nice upgrade for what I do

It doesn't necessarily require a pci express gen 4 drive slot because realistically it doesn't come anywhere near a gen 4 drive speeds. I personally think this drive is like a really good gen 3 drive with a gen 4 badge
