Same. I love it. Purchased from Atlantic Knife Company in July for $48. I didn't need it but I just couldn't say no to the deal.

This deal is arguably better, with every S35V scale/blade and Damascus variants included at the same price, sold by manufacturer and fulfilled by Amazon. If I didn't have one clipped to my pocket I'd be clicking Buy Now without blinking.

In case anyone is wondering, you buy the Damascus variant for the looks, not for the steel quality. According to a review [amazon.com], the Damascus is a compound of 10Cr15CoMoV and 9Cr18MoV. Likewise, note the carbon fiber scales aren't solid carbon fiber: "Handle Material Twill Carbon Fiber Overlay On Black G10."

Damascus variants of any knife are typically more expensive, so this is (compared to usual price or sale history) the slicker deal. The S35V versions have hit this price point numerous times, but I've never seen the Damascus version go this low.

However...

The S35V version will perform better. It is arguably one of the very best steels for an EDC folding knife. I really love the micarta handle, too. I prefer the feel over the G-10 on my Griptilian.

You could be…

- at a baby shower, helping out with the balloon arch and now you gotta cut a string. You can either leave your post, find a pair of scissor, cut or just reach into your pocket and whip out your blade

- at dinner and your kid is complaining about how the straw is too long. Whip out the blade and shorten that stick

- just received an Amazon package and couldn't wait to take it into the house to open it. Whip out the blade and open it up on the spot

- you and your partner is about to share a dessert. You asked the cashier for a knife and she handed you a fork. Whip out your blade, clean it with napkin, then slice the dessert down the middle (this just happened yesterday actually)

If you're planning on opening boxes only, the folding utility knives are great options. I went with a pocket knife because a wise man once said, never go anywhere without a knife. You gotta be careful if you go to places with metal detectors

You've been given many uses and honestly you'll find many more of you have one with you. I just keep mine right next to my keys and wallet in my top drawer so I don't forget it.

I've used it for nearly all the reasons presented here, but also for things like when I'm on vacation and walk down to the beach, I fill a backpack cooler with beer, juice, etc. Then I throw some cheese, summer sausage, and crackers in as well. When I, or the kids get hungry, bust out the "charcuterie" and slice things up.

It really depends on the knife. Swiss army knife, blades with flattened pommels and a few others can be used as a screwdriver in certain circumstances. I wouldn't recommend using the tip of your knife.

I think a nicer model helps actually, because people are just more likely to want to bring it with them. Also some such as the Civivi Asticus with the wooden handle (thanks to JMBauer74 for the deal recently) are very light at 2.8 oz. I will say to be careful about leaving it in your pocket though, because it's just so easy to forget it's there it partially opened when I tried to yank it out after taking the pants off but that will also depend on the kind of lock on the knife, and the Asticus is a flipper.

Do they have multi function models that has a decent quality steel for the primary blade, but just like one or two other things? It just seems like it's mostly either a full-on multitool or in the case of 1-2 others not really higher end steel like this.

Yes. You can find multi-tools with decent steel. You can also find some fixed blade that have pommels (back end of the handle) that can be used as accessories, such as hammers, pry bars, glass breakers, etc.... Additionally, if you go with a fixed blade, a lot of them have extra storage in the sheath, so something doesn't necessarily have to be attached to the knife to carry it. You could also consider carrying a knife with a key ring and attaching small tools to the ring. Lots of options.

Got mine too. I've never even thought about the handle on a knife before, but this is my first micarta handle and it feels like rough cardboard. I'm not sure I like it. Does it last? It feels like it'll disintegrate right away.

It's a way of life. Once you start carrying one everyday, you'll know. About 99.9% of the time has nothing to do with self defense. I use mine almost daily for a variety of tasks. Even left my utensils at home on accident for lunch one day so I whittled some quick chop sticks out of some small branches nearby. I'm always the guy in my circle of friends who comes in clutch because they know I'm always carrying one. I don't understand why more people don't carry one.

Bought one, the plain blade, it is a good knife the steel feels premium however no markings on the blade at all that I see says what steel it is, suspect that it is sv35...if I didn't have a ton of knives in all manner or steel, I would have sent it back. I think it is....the weight, size, handle material, sharpness, lock up are very good for the money it is a keeper.

Not very knifebro of me to say this but of all my knives I carry my mini $6 Gerber paraframe and leave my $100+ Kershaw at home. The best pocket knife is the one you have on your person. Obviously biased bc I live in a city. If you're not going outdoors tho or have a specific use for a bigger knife you're probably just wasting money on one.
