There are two relevant questions that one must examine when considering a 7900 XT.

1) Is $750 a good deal for a 7900 XT?
2) Is the 7900 XT in and of itself a good value?

We believe that the answer to question #1 is yes, and will attempt to prove so in this thread. We will leave question #2 as an exercise for the reader.

Compare to XTX, maybe not but can everyone spend $940ish (that's the lower tier brands).

The 7900XT should've launched at or near this price, IMO. The original $899 MSRP was absurd. $750 sorta now feels like it should be the regular price, so this doesn't seem like much of a deal to me.

The 7900XT is solid though, in general. 15% faster than 6800XT at 2K and 18% faster at 4K, on average.

No good card in this gen. Nvidia couldn't care less about gaming since AI makes way more money. Yet AMD can keep up, so both have terrible value. If you can, hold.

Pricing strategy by AMD to upsell people into the 7900 xtx. Same thing they are doing with the 7700 compared to the 7800 so expect a big price drop from 7700.

I have been out of the game for a 5-7 years. I had a $300 video card that could do absolutely anything at 1080p and many games like Witcher 3 were acceptable at 4k.

If we are still talking about 2k and 4k gaming and not 8k, I would assume a $100 budget card should be able to do this now. Why are these cards so expensive?

Most of the cards are good, most of the prices aren't.

7800 XT is one of the best value cards at $500, but if you're waiting for it to hit $300 or something, you'll be waiting a long time. 7700 XT would be excellent at $350, but it's not even a consideration at $450. 7900 XT might be OK at $750, but it's not 50% faster than a 7800 XT.

6800 non-XT looked pretty good at $400 recently.

Just got this card from amazon today. Actually to replace my ASUS TUF 7800 XT that had just terrible coil whine. This card has none so far.

I paid $540 for the TUF 7800 XT vs $750 for this card. I used the prime visa so I'll get 37.50 cash back and hoping I can get $30 for starfield to hopefully bring this down to $682 or so. $140 over the TUF and well worth it to not hear buzzzzzzzzzz all day.

Hopefully I don't regret not using my AMEX for warranty Frown.

Happy with the cooling, overclocks and undervolts far better than the TUF too.

Looks like Amazon [amazon.com] has low stock of the card + Starfield for the same price of $799.99 - $50 promo on the product page = $749.99 and Newegg via Walmart [walmart.com] has the card currently for $799.99

I went and checked it out, he mentions the rampant price gouging but doesn't really mention why the performance has stagnated. I have that 1080 and I got it for around $300 (because I used Slickdeals of course), but you would need to spend $700 today to buy a card with similar performance? Crazy.
