I have the iPad with the home button and an iPad Air without it, the amount of screen real estate you get by ditching the home button, and the laminated screen, make it, in my opinion, worth shelling out the extra money for the air without the home button,

I bought the 9th gen, then returned it and bought the air. It's a significant difference (though the 9th gen is also pretty nice.)
