If you're not used to cooking with stainless steel, then yea you would say "everything sticks." If you knew how to use them and followed the instructions, you wouldn't have that issue.

I have been a restaurateur and chef and own these. They are an outstanding buy and of excellent quality. Glazing stainless steel? You season stainless before each use. You glaze cast iron and follow by seasoning before each use.
Any instructions or tips you could send my way? Just picked up a set and would like to know how to best use this set

Excellent set at a great price.

Good quality and honestly feels very similar to my All-Clad in terms of cooking. If you are getting into cooking or looking for an intro set for a young person this is a great starter set. I use 5 of the 7 items in this set regularly.

Only down sides, the fry pans have wide curves on sides meaning the 8" pan is kind of useless in my opinion. I use the 10" for most things but I still had to got out and buy a 12" pan to feel like I had a complete set. The 3 qt deep sauce pan also doesn't feel that great, too small but also too big, most of the times I just end up using the 3 qt sauce pan or 5/8 qt pots.

Overall for the money, I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

I bought this set last month for $150, since I was looking for a replacement 3qt sauce pan in stainless steel and that was already $50. I thought that I might as well get this set and replace some of my lower quality stuff. Among my pants, I already had a 12in All-Clad D3 fry pan.

I'm a fan, good value. I'm not a fan of sets (especially knife sets) since you get a bunch of useless stuff, but the different types of pans all have been getting some use for me, surprisingly. 1.5qt sauce pan for small batches of oats and sauce, deep saute pan can be used for pasta, smaller pan for eggs (since I only have a bunch of 12" pans). The only one for me I'm not sure will get use is the the dutch oven, since I think I'd rather just use my enameled cast iron dutch oven.

I have quite a lot of CI and a couple of CS pans, so I'm not really buying this for the larger sautées, but I really want the sauce pans and stock pot, and the pans for the occasional fast high temp cook. When we moved, a year and a half ago, I gave up my worn out ceramic cookware, keeping only my CI and CS, and got a set of nonstick as a short term, with the intent of replacing it with SS. I've got a very good deep 12" cast iron and a 14" carbon steel that, annoyingly, only has an 11" flat bottom, and four 10" CI skillets and a good larger CS wok, but I still don't want to be buying a set if I'm never going to want to use half of what's in it.

So now your comment has me hesitating. Is this set going to leave me as peeved as the CS? The images don't look that bad, but with curved sides instead of that infernal slope, it's hard to get a clear idea of how big the actual flat parts are.

Buy it now. I've had this set for a few years. It still looks good and functions well.

Annoyed, got this but the wife doesn't like non-transparent lids.

I'm not so excited about going through the trouble of returning these (unpacked but haven't used them yet), but is there any economical way to get glass lids for these, or am I better off returning and getting a different set that comes with them?
If you live close by Ranch99 Chinese supermarket, you may find common size glass lids

I bought this exact set earlier this year. After literally a handful of of uses the pots/pans discolored bronzish-purple when used on medium heat. After 6 months to a year of use, ok, but that is unacceptable after less than a week of use. They were not able to be cleaned with BKF. Returned the Tramontina set to costco and bought an All-Clad D3 set. Zero discoloration months afterwards with exactly the same type of use on the same range with the same heat, although they need BKF once in a while to be cleaned up. Wirecutter has these as a pick, but also notes the tramontina set becomes permanently discolored, while the all clad do not. Yes they are significantly cheaper than all clad, yes they cook about the same, but the material quality is clearly not the same.

I have this set that I bought about 8 years ago: https://www.amazon.com/Cook-Home-...B007TIN0GW

I wanted to ask, it seems the only difference (other than the glass lids) is that the costco triclad extends up the side and the one I bought is limited to the bottom. Is that enough to justify getting one over the other?

For one thing, your set lacks a decent sized stock pot. I do like how many small saucepan-sized stock pots your set has, though. Convenient if you cook meals with several sauces and reductions at the same time.

Thanks. We bought our set for about $50, and like it well enough. We really wish it came with 2 pans though, similar in size to the one this SD offers. Other than that, have been fairly satisfied.

FWIW we had one pot that was bottom only and it was a noticeable difference from the fully clad stuff in terms of heating evenly and thoroughly, but also will depend a bit on what you're making in it?

Pretty decent write up of the issue (long read) here:

I'll put it much more politely, but our stainless fully clad tramontana stuff is still looking about perfect about 15 years later.

That said as I mention all but 1 piece of what we own in stainless is the tri-ply-all-the-way stuff from them, which is most directly comparable to all-clad (and americas test kitchen found the same, recommending it over all clad as being nearly identical for a fraction of the price)

Walmart has the sets with glass lids. It is usually cheaper than Costco because of the lids. They sell several pans and pots combinations. I got my set at Walmart because the Costco version has pots I already have and did not need that many.
