This is a portable lamp with a unique recharging base. You can pick it up and place it wherever while leaving the cable/base in place.

I got one of these from dell for $130 a week ago so trying to get a $30 refund. Haven't used it much but it works well as a nice al fresco dining lamp on the table but is WAY overpriced in my opinion. Its a tough sell even at $100.. it doesn't get very bright so its not great to use as an actual lamp but maybe in a reading nook or bedside table or like for our use, bringing outside. It has a setting built in for mimicking a burning candle which works quite well and of course hooks into the rest of the hue ecosystem. Not sure of the exact battery stats but it lasted at least 5 hours on the candle mode outside.

It was smart of Hue to try to come up with a feature to try to distinguish it from just putting a bulb in a lamp. I could see this being a backup lamp idea for a power failure. The retail price seems steep, however, unless it looks like a designer lamp in person. This sale price is a little closer to Earth.

"Hue Lantern" was a missed branding opportunity.

Hue Go (the original) was really good, novel, and bright. But it was also only $80. Not sure this is worth $20 more (on sale). I might bite at $50.

Gonna pass on this one since a.) I'm running out of space on my current bridge and Hue refuses to release a new hub that supports more lights and b.) The price is just too much, even for Hue.

The Hue app would be unusable in a power outage.

Except this lamp would have been useful last week when our power went out for 5 hours.
