Buy Vitamin D supplements that contain Vitamin K-2 (MK-7 is natural form). Otherwise go and sit in the sunshine for 15-20 mins.

Few foods naturally contain vitamin D. Hence why many people need supplements.

I would add that in most cases, the isolated type of nutrient is far less bio-available than what we get from food. There are countless studies that prove this too Smilie

1000 ius? Most people are extremely deficient in vitamin D, I want to say 75-80% off the top of my head. 5000-10000 ius a day would be a reasonable dose. So taking 5-10 pills. Not to mention as others had said no k2. For real get 15-20 min when the sun rises and 15-20 min when the sun sets outside not though a window don't wear sunglasses. Expose as much skin as reasonable. Will help with circadian Rhythm and sleep. Turn off your damn phone and tv when the sun goes down. Will be doing better that 70 percent of people in the us.

I take 5000 IUs a day and my vitamin D levels are around 30-50 depending on the time of year. So I concur a person could need a lot more than 1000 per day. When I didn't take vitamin D my blood level was in the danger zone. It's like I need to take it just to maintain a healthy level.

Thanks for the info! I take 10k personally. Dr Rhonda Patrick has a lot of great info here if anyone wants to read more!

A healthy adult (21 to 45) in winter eating fish, beef, leafy greens only needs 1,000-5,000 iu

For the sick , seniors , or poor diet, 10,000-15,000 iu has showed to be effective in independent med journals. I take this dose when i'm rarely sick or jet lag.

Downside is, you need 3000-5000IU per day for optimal levels.

Supplements have been a side hobby of mine for a decade. This brand is good though and is what I personally take.

Also pair with Life Extension brand K2. D and K2 work together, and 99% of Americans don't get enough K2.

Thanks for the info. Did some research and confirmed I was not taking a good source of D and no K2.

Seems like this is only good if you need exactly 1000 IU.

You get more bang for your buck per IU if you get the 5000 IU, as it comes out cheaper.

Which studies and which vitamins?

C may not have much of a difference: 10.3390/nu5114284

There is also usually a deficit in many people, and it is exceptionally difficult to have a diet that has what is needed: https://doi.org/10.1186/1475-2891-13-72

While I agree about nutrition deficit with most diets, the fact remains that our cells are 'food' and assimilate nutrients whose structure is similar or identical. When nutrients are chemically isolated, they lack the organic bonds to proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and carbons found in food. If you look at brands like New Chapter who use 'food based' nutrients, you won't see ascorbic acid or other isolated ingredients as you will with this brand and millions of others.

I worked for a nutraceutical company the FDA shut down due to the research and manufacture of food based products that cured people of colds, AIDS and other disease. As you know, the FDA is secretly funded by Big Pharma who also manufacture isolated varieties of vitamins..its a VERY big business for them too.

I find it amusing that the folks who say "just go sit in the sun" don't realize that pretty soon many people on this site (and probably 60% of the US population) will be living places where it will be 40 degrees and cloudy pretty much every day for 6 months. You know, like all the 50 states that are north of North Carolina.
