It's a genuine Skyworth, just as good as Magnetbox and Sorny.
Skyworth? Never heard of them.
Chinese brand IIRC.

Linus did a quick review of a Skyworth OLED a while ago.

TLw, he says that it's a good deal if you can get it on sale (which this is on sale) but he'd likely relegate it to the basement as it doesn't have HDMI 2.1. That may not be a big deal for non-gamers, so this may be worth taking a shot on for some people.

Ordered this deal … finished setting it up and hauled out the box. Settled in to watch the Ashoka finale and midway through the backlight clicked off and it's dead.

F*ck me for being neat and getting the trash out so quickly - how the hell do I return this thing now?!

Waiting to hear back from Walts.com now.
They'll send you to skyworth. Mine was cracked and took a week to get approval for a return. I placed another order but no shipping info yet

How long did you receive the shipping information? Do you need to call them for shipping? It said the store would call the buyer before shipping.
I ordered 9/22 and for a shipment email 9/25. No other contact showed up on my front porch earlier than estimate so I'd check the tracking info if they ship sameway

Thanks for the post and sorry for what happened to you. I'm hoping mine shows up in one piece. I paid with credit card instead of Amazon account so maybe I'll get a different shipper who won't toss it around. We'll see.

Did you have the box still? I'm frustrated because skyworth authorized replacement and then Walts chimed in with "Hello Skyworth support,

At this time, we would like to ask what troubleshooting steps were taken to deem this case for a replacement?

Because the unit was and is Defective inside the manufacturer warranty regardless of the 30 days, Walts will need a RMA return authorization from Skyworth with a prepaid return label. Once Walts is credited by Skyworth and receives the defective TV, Walts will issue a replacement to the customer.

Thank you,
Sydni"

Wtf.

I specifically told them I threw out the box.

Now I'm being told to hurry up and wait while this dumb paper weight takes up space.

This was a dumb purchase Frown

Mine arrived in one piece (by Amazon) and appears to be working fine. Hope you get things sorted JeffJ1237. I'll be holding onto our old faithful TV, and the Skyworth box for sure, until I get the sense we're out of the woods.

Ya I did save my box, thankfully. Got my second one and seems to be working. Amazon laid it on the short side tho which pissed me off

I do have some minor banding on the left side and wonder if how they laid it caused it. Only noticeable on grey screens and likely just part of a panel lottery with this cheap A panels.

It's my understanding that streaking is part of the game with OLED, even with top of the line, and the situation will ebb and flow over time with use. What you're seeing could get better after some viewing hours or if this company built in some kind of OLED refresh function. I'm not going to look for these things intentionally because my brain will short circuit. The numerous downsides, and limited lifespan, of OLED are the reason I wanted to get in to the tech as cheaply as possible. You're right though. We're getting leftover LG A1 panels so it is what it is. I'm just biding my time for MicroLED as it slowly comes down from $150K. lol.

I'm annoyed there is no manual describing any of the modes or features and I that I can't tell the TV what is connected to each input for different controls (like where the heck is something like PC mode?). Regardless, the step up from our trusty 55", first-gen FALD LED is astounding (obviously). We have good light control and I would not want anything brighter. That's for sure. 500 nits plenty for me.

Oh good point I forgot about the pixel refresh. My LG C1 has just been flawless so I've been spoiled. Regardless I only notice it on static grey screens anyway. Appreciate the comment tho, as clearly not related to handling

Home depot sells boxes designed for big screen tvs. They're not to expensive. I meant to add that to my reply

I don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore, but just wanted to say I'm flabbergasted by the SoC on this thing. Out of curiosity, I installed Kodi, and this SoC can actually play AV1, 4K, with HDR. It basically matches everything my HTPC can do with MPC-HC with MadVR and destroys my old Fire Stick 4K on HDMI 2.0. Pretty impressive. Never in a million years thought a TV SoC from 2021 would be able to decode AV1.
