Yeah I'm not sure what Lego had in mind with Dots. There are better, cheaper art sets like beads and what not for the 8-11 year old girls they were aiming for.

I get these free from Legoland Discovery centers. They offer them with a watch band. There is no limit so you can go back when you are finished building the watch band and then get another set. Every time you go up they give you approximately 28 pieces.
