Just in case anyone thinks "OH i should jump on this right now!" this is pretty much the regular price. Every where I see these they go for 60-65 dollars brand new. Black Friday's right around the corner, we might see it a little better then.

Google assistant has continually gotten worse over the years. I have multiple minis, this google, and the original google home. They used to work really well but now it's constantly not responding to the "Ok Google, or Hey Google" phrases, they will respond in different rooms (it's great when it doesn't respond to you and the google in the other room turns on multiple alarms/timers). Half of the automation that I spent a ton of time doing also just decides it doesn't want to hear the correct thing and turns off something random.

My wife will tell google to turn on the outdoor lights and it'll turn on my bedroom lights at 3am full blast. They just do not listen well anymore.

I'm full Android ecosystem but I'm just about fed up with the way Google constantly handles everything. Great ideas, terrible execution and management. Also, screw Sonos for their patent BS they are suing everyone for, way to do more harm than good you clowns.

This was a previous frontpage deal at this price as it looks like most reputable sellers have it for $99.99, but I will keep watch for this item on Prime Day & BF. Thanks

This was $24 a few weeks back at Lowes. (Limit was 5) and they sold out pretty quick once word spread. These send sound in a single direction, wired, no aux. I haven't opened the two I kept but the person that won it at work seemed happy 🤷
Yeah Google really gimps their hardware to basically be used for one purpose which is to keep you attached to them

I recently bought a 2nd one with my google promo which only applied to items that are MSRP. As others have pointed out, not really worth it at this price since these are like 2 years old technology and sometimes doesn't always pick up your corrected requested command via google voice (not sure if is hardware/software). But since pairing two nest audio in stereo mode, the voice command seem to have drastically improved. The stereo set up seem decent, though bass is lacking, worked for my need though.

This got a bunch of thumbsdowns but I agree. I just got rid of all my smart Google speakers. It was enough already… the promise was never realized. Too much of a PITA to configure, add new devices & services, and to maintain. And set aside a whole freaking day if you switch your Wi-Fi network. And the freaking Google assistant talks so much, with no verbosity settings. After a few years of yelling at my lightbulbs and speakers we went back to a dumb house with Sonos for audio and all is right.

I feel like the future of this died when Google lost its lawsuit to Sonos. Google just stopped caring to support many of the features due to this, mainly volume control and wireless synchronization. Sure, they implemented workarounds for some of the lost features but it doesn't feel the same anymore. That, and I'm still waiting on Google Bard to replace Google Assistant because it's responses haven't been great lately other than checking the weather.

Yeah, not sure this speaker is worth it. I have an all google smart home and this speaker has been the biggest disappointment in the ecosystem. I've owned one since it was released and the bluetooth reliability has been consistently bad. It disconnects nearly every time I use it. Typically a hard reboot (pulling the power cord) will stabilize it until the next time I use it. Inconsistent bluetooth connectivity is inexcusable nowadays, especially from the big G. Maybe it's more reliable for streaming services but my use case is mainly bluetooth since I use amazon music. My kids jbl speakers have been rock solid with bluetooth. The ask google feature has been hit or miss the entire time. Because of its issues we stopped using it entirely.

What's the point of an "all google" smart home and to use an incompatible music service? Go get yourself an Amazon echo.

I wouldn't recommend any smart speaker for Bluetooth.

I have the same experience as well. I can literally be sitting right in front of this speaker or a home mini and talking to clearly but it will get the wrong lights or will fail to understand. I've actually found my Alexa devices to understand better and respond faster so I've actually put an Alexa next to each Google device now. Sometimes Google will try to steal the thunder if it heard someone say "ok" and just "ok", but then it tells me i should know that it's name is not Alexa. Sometimes they just outright ignore my wife. Sassy mofo.

I have these. They work great. They sound really good.

I don't know how many Cheetos you need to have crammed in your mouth while you're speaking so that the thing doesn't understand you. Maybe 27... maybe the whole bag?
