Repair Geek on YouTube has great videos comparing different rust preventers.

He says this Blaster one is the best product that will creep and self heal (because it will flow some).

The other category is products that dry rather than stay tacky/greasy but those have the disadvantage of getting chips in them which then allows water to get to the surface you're trying to protect. So those aren't favored on cars.

I've used this and it works great. Does not wash off like the oil based or Fluidfilm (lanolin) type products. Slightly more expensive but well worth it. It's a tenacious clear amber color and remains waxy/flexible and does not wash off easily. I just don't feel like crawling under my car and retreating it every year as is needed with the other products.

For tools, Use any silicone based spray. CRC heavy duty silicone being the best, been using for last 25 yrs and not a single tool has rusted, incl the ones from HF.

Solid deal, thanks OP! I've coated my truck the last several years. I've actually used white lithium spray grease and it does work well but shows up white which doesn't look all that great. This oil based product designed specifically for what I'm doing likely works better.

Thanks, snagged 8 cans. Sounds like it's just as good and maybe even a little better than Fluid Film. I usually use Amber Coat but it gets really expensive in a hurry.

Is this different from rubberized undercoating. Some people say that actually traps moisture when water gets between the undercoating and metal.

Rubberized undercoating form a skin, or shell, you can peal off. PB blaster stays liquid like oil. It covers the undercariage all the time and it is oily. I watched a video which I could not find now, that shaped my opinion

I recently removed rust from my tools and I need a spray to protect the metal. What do you guys recommend. Does this work or it will create a layer that will impede the functionality of the tools

This stays relatively fluid and thick. I would not use this on my tools. I use Ballistol on my tools

ya, lotta complaints about the can. You can also buy it by the gallon and apply with a spray gun / compressor...i'm going that route. would be a good deal if the cans worked. I'd heat the cans in hot water first if you go with this deal

I also use ballistol. Works well and is nontoxic. No rust with regular use.
