One difference is the battery type, Lithium-ion on the river pro, so only like 800 charges. Vs LiFePO4 and over 2000 charges.

Still learning about these things slowly - why are they calling this a "solar generator?" From the post title l thought this was a power station and solar panel combo (& at 700W, a surprisingly powerful one at that) for a dirt cheap price, and was gonna jump all over it until I didn't see a solar panel anywhere.

because people are idiots. You are absolutely right, these should be called Power Stations. Yes, you can attach a solar panel to it, but it still does not 'generate' the power but simply stores it.

I wonder how the Ecoflow refurb's are? I was hoping to hit up the Coscto event; however, it seems like none of the local admin people are even aware of their scheduled drop-in. So, maybe they cancelled their trips to coscto locations.

Seeing as they have direct-to-sell refurbs it might be a good alternative.
I messaged EcoFlow and they said they still have the 5 year warranty. They arrive pretty much new.

I think you need to clarify that statements. People keep stating "800 Charges" implying that it will dye at 800 charges and 800 full cycles. That is not the case. This is 800 FULL cycles (0% to 100%). After 800 full cycles, it will still work but at 80% capacity or less.

If you discharge and fully recharge daily or more, LiFePO4 is the best option. Even at daily full charge and discharge, you'll have almost 3 yrs of use before dipping to 80% of the new battery with Lithium-Ion.

The schedule is online. People in the store probably aren't aware of all of their vendor events since it is planned by corporate. Here is the link:

https://www.costco.com/ecoflow-schedule.html

I went to mine when it had it. Unfortunately they only carry 3 items.

Ecoflow river 2 pro for $399.99
Delta Pro for $2549.99
Portable 160w solar panel $259.99

Vendor said it has a 90 day Costco free returns policy but not the forever returns. It is still warrantied by Ecoflow.

Right. Unless a person is using the battery every day, like for a UPS, or home solar array, the lithium Ion batteries should last a lifetime. They're also smaller and lighter than LiFePO4 which makes them more portable. Having said that, I've personally switched to LiFePO4 simply for the reduced risk of catastrophic failure and fire.

"Extra $10.95 Off coupon (apply when logged into your account)"

I am not able to see the coupon discount even after logging into my Walmart account. Anyone else get this working?

It's going to depend on the lights, but almost certainly. My 140 lumen string lights I use for camping draw a bit less than two watts of battery life, so I'd get close to 300 hours with these. A typical household 60 watt LED bulb is around 8 watts, so you'd be able to power around 10 of them for five hours with conversion losses. You need to know the power requirements of your lights.
Any idea if it can be kept outside during snow?

Ecoflow on ebay had refubed [ebay.com] 160w solar panels for $159 recently. I purchased one and it looks and functioned like new. The best part is it comes with the regular 1yr ecoflow warranty and because it's ebay refurbished, it comes with 2yr allstate warranty as well.

Ecoflow is superior in product quality and customer service. Bluetti is a joke.
Agreed. For anyone who doubts your truthful statement, they should head on over to the Bluetti reddit sub and read for themselves. And read the reviews on Amazon, filtering out the shill free product ones

Yep and it's always other components which fail and brick a unit never the actual batteries themselves ....the inverter being the main culprit. Sometimes the BMS itself which commonly is installed in less than ideal locations in these crowd sourced company products, without heat dissipation considerations involved.

Yah but the fire risk is probably more important and doesn't seem nearly as talked about. LiPo has way less of a fire risk.

I agree with you. I also wonder how frequent this actually occur today? I know in the days of cheap hover boards w/o any UL listing, etc, this occurs regularly due to zero QA and poor manufacturing process/materials. Of recent, this seems to only occurred on high voltage situation, i.e. EV w/ 400+ volt systems.

I believe, if the device is UL listed or the EU standard listing, the device would be safe unless it is temper with.

You cannot charge lifepo batteries when it's freezing. Storage is ok.

Yep, I gathered that, which is why I didn't bite. Appreciate the answer, tho. Any idea why they're calling these "solar generators?" That's what led me down the path of thinking it was bundled with a panel.
It's just a marketing ploy. Even without solar panels it can serve a similar function to a small generator short term of providing power in an outage, but you can't really call it a generator when it's just a big battery bank. But by throwing the functionality to attach solar panels to it, you get that valuable "generator" naming that helps it compete with the gas generator market.

In some ways it's way more convenient than a generator for Low draw cases. If power goes out you can run some LED lights, run phones, tablets, etc. for days before needing to recharge it. All while operating silently with no exhaust. But unlike a gas generator you can't just pour fuel into it and keep it going.

And, unlike a gas generator, you don't need to pour gas into it to keep it going if you connect a solar panel for use during the daylight.. In hurricane areas here, you really need both gas and solar for best results. Gas stations are frequently without fuel for days. Solar generators can extend the limited gas supply you might have by days. Also helps reduce the chance of someone hearing you have a generator outdoors for them to take.
