How heartless of you to post this
My mother died when a runaway meatball fell off someone's plate and rolled over her.

The sheer quantity of cheap skates in this comment section.

So preparing the meal at home is less expensive? Wow, what a revelation!

Tipping is an antiquated means to pay wages and we shouldn't have to "make up" for the employers paying less than a living wage? Yes, but that's the system we have in America so adapt or don't go to a full service restaurant.

Excess carbs, fats & sodium are bad for you? No kidding, but it's a restaurant, and unless you're eating like this everyday and never exercising, then one meal isn't going to send you to the hospital. We don't need armchair dieticians to weigh in, no one is being fooled into thinking endless pasta could be healthy.

Isn't all their food pre made at their factory and froze and then baked to serve to people? I don't think they make some of their foods at the kitchen itself right?

So with exception of "meat sauce" there's no meat at this price? Hard pass.

The sad fact is that frequently this is the best Italian food in some towns.

Hold up! Wasn't this used to be like $7!?? lol
Probably, and a large Big Mac meal at McDicks used to be $2.99 (in 1993)...

Can the pasta dishes be switched up?
Yes, I did this last week (They started it early for people on their E-mailing list). I was able to do 3 different pasta/sauce combos.

FYI adding chicken was about $5, but was added to each dish for the one charge. Not sure if you can switch the protein or not

It's been 25 years since I've had endless pasta at Olive Garden, but each subsequent plate of pasta got increasingly smaller. I guess if I have any advice, get the one you want most, first. I can't imagine with the economy it's gotten any better. In fact, there are probably other tricks they've implemented into this deal I'm unaware of.
Yes, first dish was full size and subsequent plates were significantly smaller

Answers to common questions:
I have not been at an Olive Garden that doesn't allow you to switch choices- They almost always ask- "The same choice you had at the beginning or something different?" with both pasta and sauce options.

Secondly- the first serving is much closer to what you'd normally get for a meal and after that, they come back with much smaller servings in bowls (generally about 1/3rd of your starter plate).

Depending on how busy they are and how much time you want to spend there (and your waiter or waitress), you may only get 2-3 refills in the hour.

In the past, their "tri-colored rotini" was gluten free; however, I didn't see that mentioned in their early waiver on their selection.

I do miss their larger variety of choices they had on this years ago but their sauces are still great. [RIP Alfredo Garlic, RIP Never ending pasta pass, RIP cavatappi noodles].

Anyone have issues recently with servers never coming back for refills? I love their soup and I'll do the unlimited soup and salad and I'm lucky to get 1 refill of soup and bread sticks while being there for an hour. It didn't used to be like that but recently every time I go it's like that with different servers.
I went last week and server didn't return after bringing salad until the entrees arrived. I still had her bring out more soup/salad and I think she got the hint as she was super quick to check in on pasta refills

Pretty good deal but you're limited by how many times your server comes around. Sure you could stay as long as you want, but they're not coming by every 5 mins to see if you want another plate. Realistically, you're only getting 3 - 5 refills in a normal dining time period. And the plates are not as large as a typical full entree there. Please, always be kind to your waiters and servers. And 20% tip is customary in most of the US now.
Lol imagine complaining because you didn't get a sixth refill of pasta. Stop it, Timmy.

"I eat out because I'm not cheap"

"I don't want to pay for your wages. Someone else should be forced to pay you at the level I deemed necessary".
