I had a acer monitor that did the same thing. I hated it and just got myself a Alienware monitor. I love it except I can't see the bios with the monitor. Seems to be a known issue.

I think it's hdmi that is doing that to you. Had that issue on my monitor, then switched to DVI and it worked like a charm.

Google says an older hdmi cable might be the root causeā€¦

A 27" monitor should be 1440p. 1080p will not look good on a monitor this large.

My post would be irreverent but I come from 27" 1080p monitor to 28" 4k and honestly 1080p on 27" monitor its pretty bad as you sit in front of it you can see every single pixel. Its just ugly.
Avoid if you can.
