Thing gets hot within a minute to the touch and then speed drops. Read speed decent, write speed awful. Like worse than usb 2.0 writes

I often have to transfer things between an older MacBook (usb2) and a newer MacBook. This thing has been awesome to have around.

On the older MacBooks though the knob slide sticks out just far enough so that you cannot use the other usb slot.

USB flashdrive no matter which brand overheats fast. They can get that insane write speed for 5 minutes or less and then speed drops back down to like 20 to 50 mb/s.

I used these USB drives to give to clients for media stuff. They are terrific for delivering content. The flash drive does overheat after 5 minutes so i get the speed drop from 74 mb/s to 20. But i am transferring over 20 gigabytes of data so yea, i can see the drop speed to keep the usb safe. Haven't used it much for daily usage so i can comment on that.

Have this drive, don't like it. Takes multiple tries for my phone to recognize it, and often corrupts files on transfer.

I had this and it actually wouldn't hold so I tried taking it apart. That was actually pretty difficult and I almost rendered it unusable. They'd be better off just selling it without the shell. Lol

I'm currently traveling indefinitely and this was the USB I chose for my needs. Yes it gets hot very quickly and other SD'ers aren't exaggerating that it gets hot alongside the fact the speeds do drop. The fix I applied because I just try and make the most of the hand i'm dealt, I place a bottle with water atop of the drive while it's transferring content. The bottle acts as a heatsink and the drive remains cool to the touch after and transfers at the advertised speed for the entirety. The bottle I use specifically is a Vapur bottle since that's what I'm traveling with. Maybe others have suggestions on how to better cool the drive. I wouldn't expect anyone else to be this nerdy but it works for me and makes me happy I can solve a problem and see improved results. Good deal for the drive otherwise. Makes transferring from Android to Mac much easier using the Sandisk Memory Zone app.

Commenters are correct. Hot quick. Slide mechanism is not stable, it'll slide when inserting. Buffer is small, so transfer speed is slow. Buttttttttt...... it is nice to have both USB connectors on one device. I wish it connected to a key ring. Has no attachment point. I got one from vansuny on Amazon . Has 20% coupon clip right now. I have the plastic one. Love it. Lives on my keys. The metal one I'm buying this moment.

I've got one of these and I hate it. For many USB ports it's not an easy fit, so you have to hold it open with that tiny nub. A couple of my USB ports are tight fits so the nub presses into your thumb as you push the drive in, causing unnecessary pain.
