The screen on these Pac Mania units is pretty terrible. It's an edge lit design, which is kind of crazy in this era. Black levels are pretty bad, and viewing angles are extremely narrow.

For Ms Pacman I would probably pull the trigger

There's apparently some rule that Ms Pac Man can't be on the same cabinet as a Pac Man game.

Anyone know the reason why Arcade1up won't make more full-size cabinets? Is it a licensing thing?
I'm not sure if this is what you mean by full size but my local Costco has the Arcade1up Pac-Man XL for $600. It's also available on their website for $630.

If you get something like this get a quality one. Costco have one about three times the price, but colors and the responsiveness are worth it.

MS Pacman is owned by Atgames now so it won't ever be on an Arcade1UP.

Arcade1UP's are all poor quality! For $250 it isn't a bad deal but be prepared to replace controls at least on these as the controls that come on A1UP's are just absolute garbage!
The one A1UP I do own is disassembled and in the garage in a box. I bought it and swapped out all of the controls, bought a riser, got a video board to add HDMI in and converted it to a multicade. When Atgames came out with their Legends Ultimate I bought one of those and added a $20 USB stick and I have a multicade with thousands of games. The monitor is larger than the Arcade1UP's, the AtGames controls Aren't the greatest in the world but are high enough quality to not need to be replaced! The sound is superior to Arcade1up's and just overall a better experience.

What? Arcade1up has had at least 2 cabinets with Ms. Pac-Man included?

Oh, it is just royalty rights, I stand corrected. I don't keep up with all their releases as their quality is bad and I wouldn't put another A1UP in my house. I bought one when my options were an A1up or a $5k custom made arcade but there are more options now.

Lo and behold, AtGames itself ended up buying that royalty interest, meaning that, going forward, if Bandai Namco released anything with Ms. Pac-Man (or Baby Pac) in it, it would owe residuals to AtGames, the people they were now suing. (Note: These rights are to be paid whenever the work is used; Bandai Namco still has full ownership and control of Ms. Pac-Man as an intellectual property, and can unilaterally make any product including her.)
Bandai Namco alleged some other unauthorized uses of their intellectual property; AtGames said Bandai Namco was punishing it for a private deal with rights-holders who weren't happy Bandai Namco weren't making anything with Ms. Pac-Man in it. The lawsuit was settled in November 2020, but AtGames still owns the royalty interest in Ms. Pac-Man.

That only begins to discuss how bizarre the rights are. 😉

and

https://pacman.fandom.com/wiki/Hi...gal_issues

"The matter was eventually settled around 1983; though by all recounts, the royalty plan effectively stayed the same. Under the revised agreement, GCC would earn royalties from any Ms. Pac-Man "coin-operated machine" sold; this did not include any home console ports or merchandise.

The original contract - which had in no way been updated since 1983 - was analyzed by the court. The arbitrator noted that GCC's royalties, judging by the text, explicitly applied to "coin-operated games". At this time, Namco generally sold Ms. Pac-Man cabinets in two forms: models with coin slots, and "home" models without coin slots (meaning they were free to play). Because of this, the court ruled that GCC could only receive royalties for the coin-operated models, and not those without the function.

However, due to a strange case of wording in the contract, a bizarre ruling was made. The contract defined "electronic distribution" of Ms. Pac-Man as "[...] any use in which [the game] is broadcast or in any other way transmitted [to] other receiving devices." With such broad wording, the arbitrator felt this would qualify for numerous things; in particular, devices such as cell phones and products with general internet connectivity. Generally speaking, while not directly coin-operated, these devices can usually accept payments (e.g. via credit card) as well. The newest game consoles at the time - and pretty much all game systems going forward - would also apply to this."

Every time I get one of these and assemble it, I swear it's the last time. Six cabs (including two different PacMan cabs), here I am trying to justify another purchase with all my Nordy notes.

I don't think the store stock will last until November. There were only a few units left when I saw it yesterday at the Melville, NY location.

Just emulate on your pc. You'll get more authentic emulation on a better screen with better speakers. Pull a CRT monitor off a curb and you'll be light years ahead. Put that $250 toward something important, or buy/build a top-quality arcade-style fightstick with that money.

These can only impress a tiny portion of neckbeards, but any neckbeard worth his salt will turn his nose up to it.

Plus do you have no better use for that space? I have over 1,000 hours (wasted) in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam but I don't want a dedicated, huge piece of furniture just to play it.

Why are they so scared to put Ms PacMan and PacMan on the same board? These games are 40 years old! Also, why are they highlighting Pac Mania on the design? No one played that.
