Keep in mind that Rtings reviewed the 65" panel, which has a VA panel (higher contrast ratio and narrower viewing angle). Rtings weighs contrast highly, hence the overall rating of 7.1. The 86" in this thread has an IPS panel (lower contrast ratio and wider viewing angle). It will perform closer to the newer UQ8000 (IPS panel) but with 120Hz.

Is it big? Yes. Is it underwhelming? Also yes.

review of TV, seems okay, not great, but <1000 for 86 have to keep expectations in check.

So the newer model doesn't have 120Hz?

Yep that is what I was thinking, something under 700 for sure. 500 next year definitely, if they get that cheap this year I'm in.
Yeah looking forward to get one too. we may get $500 deals

I'm not buying any more damn TVs until I can afford OLED everywhere. Once you see it, it's hard to even look at another TV. I'd like to replace my 100" projector setup, but I'm not doing it until 85"+ OLEDs are in range. #oledsnob

I get that, I have my 55'' oled in it's own room. I got the big samsung 75'' cheap tv, slickdeals from years ago for 500, in the living room where all the kids and drones flying around are.

Definitely looking forward to the day I'll get 85''+ OLED but I'm not spending over 1000 on it so probably going to be a couple more years.

I hope so, that or I need a good deal on one of those UST projectors. I'd splurge a little for that.

I bought this last week for the same price at Sam's club. It's an awesome TV. I upgraded from a 65 inch Vizio to this. I have it hooked up to an Apple TV and the picture and sound quality is great.

Indeed. My threshold is $1500. When I see a decent OLED 86" or larger in range, it's on. I've always set that threshold for my basement home theater and have done 3 upgrades over 15 years keeping to it. Everything eventually makes it there and that's usually a price you can buy something that will keep you happy for 3-5 years and still sell for a few bucks when you're ready to move up.

Yes... the 86" UQ8000 is native 120Hz. All of the other sizes are 60Hz. I mentioned "with 120Hz" since Rtings reviewed the 60Hz 65". Generally, being 120Hz, the 86" should perform better (for sports, gaming, pc monitor) than the Rtings review suggests.

Terribly. The Hisense U8 series is mini LED QLED with really good local dimming. A 65" U8 also costs the same as this 86" LG LED so I don't see one would be comparing these two TVs.

The size is tempting but I think I would pass this deal and look at the Sony 75inch that's going to be on sale in a week for same price. Yes it's smaller but I guarantee that the picture and motion will be a lot better, it also has a couple 2.1 hdmi inputs incase u game.

True... for the UQ8000 series. That comment of mine was responding to someone's comment referring to the Rtings UR8000 series review which was for a 65" VA panel instead of an IPS panel. As you can see in the later part of my comment... I went on to say that since the 86" in this thread has an IPS panel, it would perform closer to the Rtings UQ8000 series review since that was for an IPS panel.

Reading comprehension failure on my part ….. ooopsie

I'd love to find 65" with VA panel (one person center view … 50 too small 70 too large Goldilocks needs 60-65 VA)

The price tag on this is so tempting but I have had 2 LGs 65" so far and i dont have any issues with the picture but the S/W becomes so laggy and buggy in couple of years that it gets so frustrating , and the remote was changed almost 3 times . I have no experience with other brands but i wish i had taken the extended warranty on these .
