Hi SkyKing02

The NVR has PoE ports, so if you got a good cat5e/6 cable run it will provide power to the cameras.

Thanks and repped CleverBuffalo

indeed @munkynutss .. really too bad they're putting in tiny sensors ..

HI skim, as long as your cables are still good, you should be able to swap out your kit as needed.

( remember di-electric gel in the RJ45 boot .. just a drop, and coax seal or silicone stretch tape .. also I do like junction boxes .. )

Hi Dolfan954

Typically can manually add cameras on the network to Dahua OEM NVRs .. including wifi cameras on your wifi router ..

note, remember wifi can become problematic if you have too much traffic on it that needs to stream real time ..

Hi Bargainhunter .. looks like the NVR is spec'ed to hold 2 hdds ..

Yes, 16 ports PoE .. very nice ..
You do realize they're not attached like that right? It's just the way they're positioned in the photo.

After working with Home Assistant and Frigate NVR, I can never use anything else. Do these NVRs also offer object recognition? For example, I set up an Amcrest AD410 and get on premise recording, with object detection for free. They charge about $15 month for this. Definitely not for everyone in terms of difficulty to setup, but for the tech savvy slick dealer, it's a no brainer.

Lorex has all of that and it's free. You need to set it up at the NVR. I have mine to only recognize people, otherwise it's a nuisance with alerts from cars and animals.

Do you have the same system? I only saw one rating on the website. Sounds like you are quite happy with yours. Did you have to buy extra cabling for longer distances? Is it cat 6? Thanks if you have time. This sounds like a decent buy to me and my system is ancient.

I have this one, which is an older version. The one listed here seems to have more features. I like the deterrent light and setup was a pretty easy. I even called customer service to figure out how to view and configure from my computer.

I personally like the dome but the bullet are more noticeable, which you want with cameras.

Anyone have a comparison with this versus the one on sale at Costco?

I have an older Lorex system from 10 years ago that has PoE. Can I buy this set and just switch the DVR and the cameras without redoing the Ethernet wiring in my house?

You're getting a slightly better NVR here with buydig but the return policy when/if something goes wrong can't be beat with Costco. Cameras will be almost equivalent because it's the same image sensor. In fact, because the Costco set is trying to put 12mp through the same image sensor as the the buydig set's 8mp, the older cams in the buydig set might have a slightly better image overall.

Thanks! Do you know if this NVR supports Lorex Wi-Fi cameras?

I am struggling here. I currently have a Nest Camera system set up and I am not happy. I have a couple spots around my house that cannot easily run POE through (attic is broken up in my house). So, the idea of adding some of the Lorex cameras seems enticing.
