I know this is a big jump in price. The Quest 2 was released at $299 and then had it's price increased to $399 (which was ridiculous imo). I don't know if the Quest 3 is worth another $100 raise to $500 but hoping some here can find the $50 discount helpful.

I think the biggest update is being a mixed reality instead of virtual reality. let's wait for reviews instead of pre order!

As a VR studio owner and developer, it is worth it. Completely different machine and capabilities. As long as you don't need face/eye tracking which is highly use case dependent, then this is the way to go. It will be the market leader for at least a year or more and they won't refresh for at least 18 months or two years plus. Also, it has the biggest free roam library with their storefront which also still able to play all PCVR games wirelessly.
It really will be the best all around headset on the market and that doesn't even cover the boom of MR games that are going to come with this. All of us are rushing to make games for this emerging market. $499 ain't a bad price.

Yeah, the only reason I purchased a quest 2 is because Amazon had a deal for $225 with $50 Amazon gift card, essentially making it $175. It's fun, but $500 is kind of crazy to me, especially without eye tracking. Gave my friends PSVR2 a go and eye tracking is huge for immersion. Thats definitely the product I'll eventually upgrade to unless this thing drops to around $300.

I believe that was a price mistake though it wasn't called one in the thread Smilie That's when I got my Quest 2 (and the only reason). Not only that but I spammed my ref link on reddit (don't share them on SD - not allowed) and got $300+ in credits so have a TON of games.

Actually most of us SDers bought our Quest 2 for $249 plus $50 free gift card making it a $200 purchase. It was available at many retail locations. And Meta gave us free money for apps too.

It's also a pretty big jump in tech. I think the Quest --> Quest 2 was far more modest of an upgrade than this one.

Might not be a bad deal for enthusiasts who can resell their quest 2 to go towards it.

I was an early adopter of the Quest. I still feel very burned by how quickly the Quest 2 came out and there are a bunch of games I can't play.

I have the Mini Pro 3 - great drone and thankfully the 4 isn't tooooooo much of an upgrade. The camera itself is the same though it can shoot 4k at 100fps vs 60fps on the 3 and has full surround obstacle avoidance.

You should post that as a deal thread (if you want) though Smilie

While I agree with eye tracking should be standard on most headsets these days, you are comparing a [1k setup] vs a 500 dollar setup.
