Quest 2 was sold at a loss and subsidized by Facebook (the company). Quest 3 is not.
As a VR studio owner and developer, it is worth it. Completely different machine and capabilities. As long as you don't need face/eye tracking which is highly use case dependent, then this is the way to go. It will be the market leader for at least a year or more and they won't refresh for at least 18 months or two years plus. Also, it has the biggest free roam library with their storefront which also still able to play all PCVR games wirelessly.
It really will be the best all around headset on the market and that doesn't even cover the boom of MR games that are going to come with this. All of us are rushing to make games for this emerging market. $499 ain't a bad price.
I know this is a big jump in price. The Quest 2 was released at $299 and then had it's price increased to $399 (which was ridiculous imo). I don't know if the Quest 3 is worth another $100 raise to $500 but hoping some here can find the $50 discount helpful.

May have to be a return and rebuy type thing but you can call support to explain to see if they can help.

Which support department? I just got an alert by Bestbuy that they are doing 10% back through the 22nd btw

These codes are specific to the recipient who has a Best Buy credit card. I'm pretty sure once they get out, they work for anyone with a Best Buy credit card. Based on the products they work on, they aren't really intended to be used in a mass-way. For instance, the past few years the code "jul22ccsave10" or "jul23ccsave10" worked on things it wasn't supposed to. Products that have very strict discount rules, like a new Macbook Pro or Oculus 2. As time goes on, it becomes easy to guess what the next code is, like aug22ccsave10, sept23ccsave10, and so on. I was able to use this combo a few times last year, but now they are impossible to guess. Looks like Best Buy figured it out and made the rules tighter for them. I would always shake my head when someone posted a brand new expensive item here and say "this can be used on anything!" I'm sure BB looked at monthly purchase reports and identified that products with strict discounting rules were being discounted on Bose, Apple, DJI, etc...all the stuff that demands a strict MSRP.

Anyhow, looks like the party is over now that this is circulating on SD. Oh well.
I've been using these codes for years and it's always been that certain brands/products don't work and are excluded. Over time I'm sure the exclusion list has grown. Sometimes it's the whole product line, but sometimes it's not. For example, the codes don't work on LG OLED TVs, but they work on (at least some) LG computer monitors. I ran into that a few months back when I bought an LG Ultragear monitor. These codes circulate on Reddit, Slickdeals, and other promo code websites. I'm sure Best Buy is aware of that, but the 10% off code is something they've offered/promoted for a long time so they don't have many options if a code gets out other than changing it frequently.

@phatsk807, makes sense. I just wish there was something other than the 10% in points for the Oculus Quest 3, since I'm about to buy it.

Anything new, OP, all?

If you have a Target Red Card you get 5% off, which may be the best you can get right now if you just want to bring the price down and not worry about rewards/points. If you don't have a Red Card you probably know someone who does. If you know someone who works at Target you could get 10% off product price + 5% off that subtotal if they have a Red Card.

Another option I saw would be to add it to a (fake) wedding registry to get 15% off... but that takes at least a couple weeks to get the coupon they give you for doing that.

BB is having 10% rewards (check your rewards section to activate) until the 22nd. I may just pull the trigger and happily take my $50 in rewards. Probably buy the elite head strap with it.

Makes sense. The part that sucks is that the coupon works on the quest 2 but not the quest 3. Add in that on day one of presale, the coupon worked on the quest 3.

Yep I know, I almost bought it when the code worked but waited a day and it stopped working. I ended up going the Target route cause a relative works there so I got it for $460 after taxes. I ended up buying an elite strap just like I have on my Quest 2 cause it just felt wrong without one.

Anyone have thoughts on walking into Best Buy and explaining to them that the coupon should work on this since it's no longer pre sale? I assume it's a possibility they may overwrite it but I also didn't receive this coupon code myself and got it from this slick deal. Thoughts?

I didn't go in but 2 different chat reps basically didn't know either and tried to use excuses as to why it wasn't working. Ie this coupon is only for sale items, only for non-sale items, it will work if you add 2 items not just 1 etc. Basically anything they can say to get out of the convo.

Quest 3 is 50$ off on newegg

Saw that promocode ZIPFAN applies to Quest 3 on Newegg, they charge a 6$ financing fee.

I used ZIPFAN just now. I had to sign up for Zip pay and use my credit card through them. Seems like they are something like PayPal, but they break up your payments into installments and charge you interest for this.

Zip pay charged me $6 interest for this particular purchase.

This is all after they needed to check my credit report with soft inquiry.

I got an installment agreement from them and reading it, seems like $6 is all they wanted as interest for the whole thing, but I did not even bother: after I've made the purchase through them (using Zip pay), I just paid off the rest immediately (I logged into my Zip pay account to do this): I did not want to see any additional charges from Zip.

Hope this helps.
