Do NOT put the A53 SIM in any other phone. Tracfone pairs phone IMEI and SIM ICCID, so they may re-pair the IMEI/ICCID when you put the SIM in another phone, which may impact the service and unlock. (To request unlock using the TFW unlock portal, it will ask for the phone IMEI as well as the active phone # associated with the IMEI.)

Just take the phone to them and leave it there. Get an unlock code when you come back to the US and send the instruction to unlock to India.

Yes, activate the phones in the U.S. first and unlock overseas on day 60 after activation. Tracfone blocks access from overseas, and VPN most likely won't work. The unlock portal however likely works with VPN. You will need to enter the phone IMEI and associated active phone number. Enter the two codes displayed on screen (and emailed to you) in your phone to unlock (dial #TFUNLOCK# (#8386 5625#) to access the unlock menu). Alternatively you could do the unlock for them when you are back in the U.S. (no need to have the phones with you. IMEI and phone # will do.)
