HVAC tech here, inverter drive units are not necessarily better for some. Inverter drive units tend to run the compressor at lower capacity, and almost continuously, over the long haul. But many use these units for short-term emergency cooling where the faster pull-down of a single speed unit is desirable.

Wouldn't this unit be the better buy? It has heat, Ac,12000 BTU for extra $15 total $277. Seems like a no brainer for $15 extra to get a stronger unit with heat.

So the 10,000 BTU is $262 and the 12,000 BTU is $245 - what am I missing?

This looks almost identical to the Toshiba / Midea AC I bought a while back. Pretty happy with it.

Looks like the 10000btu that's more expensive has WiFi and is smart. The 12000 isn't .

Thanks for the replies. I confused myself - the 10,000 BTU link shows 12,000 BTU in the product description. Don't trust me on this, since I just did a quick google search but the 10,000 BTU SACC, since it's measured differently might not be very different in cooling performance from the 12,0000 BTU ASHRAE.

Have owned the Whynter ARC-122DHP 12,000 Dual Hose for 6 years. Paid $500 and one of the best things I've purchased for use in Florida home during power outages (along with HF Predator inverter generator).

Is this the same as the Midea Duo 12,000 BTU? Looks the same besides the name brand. Looking at it again the Midea duo has cooling and heat while this unit is only ac.

Live in south florida, want a unit for bedroom, namely for emergencies for pending hurricanes. Want a quiet unit since its in the bedroom----room is 20 by 20 ft, should I buy 10BTU inverter unit or go with larger 12 or 14K BTU? Not interested in wifi or smart tech, 14k unit noisier than 10K with inverter?

Want is difference on 10K but with inverter, I thought all of these are inverter-thanks in advance for educating me!!! Applause

I had a mailing for an extra 10% off using my HD credit card. Looks identical to my Danby I got last year and that work flawlessly. I will update when I receive it on Saturday. I am hoping it will connect to my Danby app so I can control both.
