I currently get dashpass for free (two years) via Chase Sapphire benefits. I tried to add this on to my account, and got an error message "This offer is only valid if you haven't had DashPass in the past six months."

Seems like that's the cutoff!

Auto Renews. does not look like you can cancel early without forgetting the remaining free period.

Yup had to set up a google reminder to cancel it in five and a half months. I will say on taco tuesdays doordash has been doing $12 off $15 so I've used it the last two weeks on pickups.

Privacy.com or other one time use / burner virtual cards work great for just this occasion

roku accounts are free. Not sure if you when you create one you would get the deal or not but you can try.
