they said that for the upcoming ChatGPT-like functions that OpenAI charges $40/mo. Not for the capabilities you get today with Alexa. See https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2...ventually/

They don't have enough users and not providing existing users with enough utility as of now. Don't see they have enough value to charge (for people asking for the weather?)

They are splitting off features on many services and charging for them soon. Even the Ring (owned by Amazon) Alarm Service is splitting off the Alexa burgulry detection feature linkage into a seperare subscription from the monitoring plan.

I am canceling all Amazon subscriptions as they come up for renewal (prime, unlimited music, etc)

The glass break detection did pick up my kid accidentally drop and break a plate. Haven't had anyone try a window yet.

A new, gen 5 echo is currently $23. Not sure how good of a deal this really is. Unless you really need that 3.5mm input jack for some reason.

I took a Dot ( using bluetooth) and hooked up cheap bluetooth10watt amp ( Aliexpress ) drives overhead wall speakers just fine
