The math on these things rarely, if ever works out if you compare it to just purchasing the product in cans.

If you add up the cost of the machine, the cartridges and the syrups, you're well beyond what a twelve pack usually costs.

I did what many have: I purchased my own 5lb CO2 cylinder. I actually filled it up back in May and haven't had to refill yet! That's with typically making one liter per day. You're right, the upfront cost is high, but the more time goes by and you save from not buying the cans you would have bought otherwise, it pays itself off and then some.
