Whey protein prices r just insane. $10 / lbs is a good deal? Is that the new norm?

Is there anyone here without a tin hat on?

Just curious because cinnamon is a known to cause liver damage, but nobody here ever says they're going to avoid a product because of it

What should I be looking for in terms of buying powder online? Is it going to be cheaper to just buy more eggs and eat those lol
$50 for the 78 servings is about $0.68 per serving and you're getting 24g of protein with just 120 calories and very little carbs and fat. That's about $0.03 per gram of protein. Each egg has about 8 g of protein (5g fat 70 cal), so you'd need to eat four eggs to equal one serving of whey, and you probably shouldn't eat more than four eggs! Price-wise, eggs vary greatly but if you buy the cheap ones it is probably a break even (no pun intended) or slightly more.

Eggs can be a very healthy contribution to your diet and you should probably be eating both. Health-wise you should be getting most of your protein and other macro nutrients from whole foods. But whey protein is a great and inexpensive way to increase your protein intake up to the levels necessary for optimum results when, for example, weightlifting.

Health is priceless. Eat lots of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and lean protein from quality sources. I consider this product to be a highly processed food with artificial ingredients--but I make sure to get lots of good foods in and it helps me reach my health and fitness goals, so it's a big net positive.

The last 3.5 years has been the new normal for a lot of things.

Myprotein had a sale for isolate for less than 10 dollars per lb last week, unlike this AT 10 dollars, and isolate is better. I'd wait for another deal there

For those who care about the details :
This only contains about 78% protein (calcium and potassium included in this figure). The other 22% is filler and flavor, about a pounds worth.

Gah. I also bought the chocolate..

> A new study has said that sugar substitutes such as acesulfame potassium and sucralose, may interfere with liver's ability to detoxify the body. Apr 24, 2022

> The sources that claim that acesulfame potassium may be potentially dangerous also claim that the substance may also have certain carcinogenic properties. In one study the female rats were fed with acesulfame potassium and they were twice as likely to develop tumors on the breasts as those which were not fed the artificial sweetener.

> The substance may be harmful because it can also trigger certain medical disorders such as lung tumors, severe chronic respiratory diseases and leukemia as well.

None of the optimum products are going to be good for you.

Where is the 'clip' coupon? All these 'clip' the coupon deals for Amazon recently don't show for me.

This is probably the best flavor. I'm already tired of the Costco vanilla and chocolate ones

What flavor do you all recommend?
Got vanilla ice cream a while back and it's starting to empty out. Need a good recommendation to try out another.

Most of the remaining flavors have the same coupon and S&S discount on my end.
Double Rich Chocolate is great.

I started drinking protein powder 3-4 months ago for the first time. I've tried ON Double Rich Chocolate, Ascent Chocolate, Dymatize Chocolate and Vanilla, and Dymatize Rich Chocolate plant-based powder. The only one I'll ever buy again is the Double Rich Chocolate. The Ascent and Dymatize whey protein powders are all sickeningly sweet and have a typical fake sugar taste. The plant-based Dymatize is on a whole other level and should be illegal to market for human consumption.

Double Rich Chocolate has very little sweetness, almost like a darker hot cocoa. I'd drink this stuff just for the taste, which I can't say about the others.

Agree. I won't waste time posting the deal next time as half the comments are just complaining about the product.

Hoping this addresses everyone's concerns regarding Ace K / Sucralose. Here's an article from FDA assessing the safe daily intake for some of the major artificial sweeteners in the market.

https://www.fda.gov/food/food-add...eners-food

Bottom line: You need to consume more than 23 packets of Ace K / Sucralose to go above the recommended daily intake. If you're having a scoop a day of this product, you're likely well within the recommended daily intake.

I spend more money on protein powders and specialty condiments (no sugar added, low sodium, sugar free , etc) than actual food lol
