i think these best buy memberships are a waste.
the exclusive discounts and exclusive access to sales events etc have all sucked. besides a nintendo switch sale earlier this summer
So if yer gonna spend $500 anyway, the plus membership is $50. Makes it free, kinda. I guess. I had one of the employees shill the plus membership previously, he tried telling me Bb plus members get extra open box discounts when I asked for a deal on an open box subwoofer. He did discount it an additional $100 but told me I'd have to buy the plus membership to get it, which is $49. I agreed, got the discount on the subwoofer, then went home and immediately cancelled the membership and got my $49 back. Maybe if I need to buy something this month I will buy it and keep it for a year and see if it's really worth it
These memberships/subscriptions all need to die. 30 years from now ill be a boomer telling my grandchildren about how you had to pay best buy 200 bucks a year just to have a 30 day return window.

I pulled the membership to get AppleCare+ on two new iPhones and since added another iPhone, an apple watch, airpods, and a bunch of other items that friends and family wanted to buy already. For those things, it seems to make some sense.. maybe?

If you only have one device, or do not usually pay for warranties, then it seems way over price.

I also got $500 back for an LG 5.1 system (SD) and it was already discounted, so I guess it ended up costing me $350 or so.

There was also a TT deal for ~$99 that came with 2 x blink wireless cameras, 1 x door bell, and 1 x flood light with the gen2 camera and warranty for up to 2 years. That was not bad since a friend needed a cheap expansion of their security system and they already had Blink.

Finally, it seems like BestBuy.com is frequently pricematching Amazon, so things like the Echo Studio (and other devices) went on sale and they are covered by the return period and warranty (up to 2 years).

You can also request a price match, even after ordering

Really depends on what you are buying. I buy a lot of Legos and Bestbuy offers 10% discount to 50$ membership level. Also if you have their credit card, they have a lot of reward offers that stack. For example they usually have 50$ at 3000$ spend stacking with 5% back on Costco. So you end up getting something like 11% cashback. Then Lego sets are 10% discounted and when you use rewards, you don't pay tax on the amount that rewards were applied saving an additional 10% for me.

It's a bummer because that used to be for all best buy rewards members (free tier). They moved the really good deals to their new premium tier. Was hoping they would still give us this so I can pick up an RX 7800 XT.

These extras are almost always a waste. Which is exactly why corporations love them. Anytime you need to pay extra upfront.. for benefits you might (or might not) use.. its beneficial to seller as the average consumer will simply not use enough of the benefits to outweigh the cost of the membership.

From gym memberships to extended warranties.. its a profit maker!

They screwed me on the similar deal that was offered on Labor Day weekend. The offer showed expired despite being activated and used. When I called I was told it was simply because I didn't pick up the item yet and when I did, I would automatically be credited. I asked the CSR if I would be manually credited if the offer failed to work automatically. She said yes so I asked her to confirm twice more. Yes, yes. When it didn't credit me, I called back for the manual credit and was told to kick sand; their system says I didn't activate and TFB for me. I told them I had ascreenshot and was told to take it to the store. I did that and they said they can't issue rewards. The manager did take $10 off my order, but he put it in as a return-rebuy so that's a strike against me with The Return Equation. >Frown
