I have a white, Pace 500 v2 step thru. It's a great bike at this price. I have about 1500 miles in mine over the year. I bought through a bike shop for free assembly and check up. I've had a few e-bikes over the year, and I settle Pace 500 v2 after test riding about a dozen bikes (other Aventons, some Specialized). Ultimately, the Pace was the most natural riding bike, even when shut off or in PAS0, it's a very ridable bike.

The Pace 500 v3 does have some nice upgrades as well. I am still quite happy with my Pace after a year.

In for one! Here's a video of the acceleration that I just took after test riding an identical one at a local bike shop (where it was NOT on sale):

This is a slam-dunk deal as far as ebikes go. And from a well-known company that isn't going to up and disappear when you need support.

What is the wattage of this bike ? I've read over the specs, and it does not say. If this is just 500 watts, this is not a good deal. I just purchased a 2000 watt one for the same price.
As mentioned, in many places in the US that is not considered a bicycle. So technically it is illegal to be ridden on the road, and on bike paths. It also can't be registered as a vehicle since it likely doesn't meet the qualifications of a moped or motorcycle. So that leaves it with the Off Road ATV designation, technically.

To my knowledge many states limit a bike to 750W, up to 28MPH, as a Class 3 e-Bike. Anything over that is considered a motorcycle, and then sub-classes of that are different registerable vehicles (moped, atv, dirt bike, road bike, dualsport, etc).

Now enforcement of these laws is a completely different discussion. But if you do something stupid, and you're at fault, technically you shouldn't have been on it in the first place...

If the e-bike isn't 50% off or greater right now, it's not a deal. Prices are going to continue to drop over the next couple of months.

You aren't even looking at comparable bikes really. The Aventon is a FAST 500W bike, I easily ride at 28 mph on errands.

The other bike is a no-name Chinese brand and lesser components all around. The Amazon e-bike is 87 lbs, where the pace is about 60. Pace 500 is very easy to ride without power, whereas the Amazon fat tire is going to be a rolling tank with a dead battery.

I highly suggest folks go test ride the Aventon lineup, there's dealers all over and they usually have the same price as Aventon direct.

I have this exact bike and love it. I was very impressed at the build quality for the price. While it is 500w, it does have higher torque than many other 500w motors. For example, I test rode a Radpower 750w that had less power than this. I also like that the dealer network is huge if you have any issues and add on accessories are very reasonably priced. Added fenders and a rear rack for < $100 total. For me a no-brainer at this price. Perfect entry into the e-bike world. If you don't like it, you should be able to sell it for $900 depending on the market.

This is definitely a big step above all of the cheap generic Chinese bikes on Amazon that might advertise 2000w. Don't expect those bikes to last long.

But Aventon is a Chinese brand / manufacturer that has a US warehouse. They're a brand name cheap Chinese bike. So I guess a notch above Generic? I wouldn't be surprised if they sold these bikes under another name on Alibaba.

I have version 1 of the bike and love it. I commute with it to work, 10 mile round trip daily. Extremely reliable and it's sold and serviced at my local bike shop.

The Aventon is a much higher quality Chinese e-bike, with a dealer and service network across the States.

The Aventon comes with a UL certified battery, bike frame with integrated battery, Tektro Hydraulic Brakes and a 2 year warranty. The fact that it's a serviceable, seemingly well built bike was the biggest factor in my choosing Aventon. I only wish I had gotten one sooner.

Aventon is a US company that manufactures in China based off of their custom designs and specifications. You won't find these on Alibaba or anywhere else. Great customer service, dealer network, etc. Good luck getting a warranty repair or part on one of those Chinese amazon bikes. But to each their own. All of the above is worth it to me.

I was in the market for an E-bike and finally narrowed it down to Aventon 500.3 or Velotric Discover 1.
Only differences between them is the 500.3 has a torque sensor and Discover has a Cadence sensor.
The Discover was couple hundred cheaper.... Went with the Discover 1 and very pleased with the performance... I only have 60 miles on it so far but it is a blast to ride... They are both excellent bikes and I'm sure the 500.2 is just a good.... BTW, the Discover 1 makes it steep roads no problem in #5 assist and gets about 50-60 miles on a charge...

Their customer support is notoriously bad.

Highly recommend this bike. I bought the first gen version for 899 13 months ago and have put 3800 miles on it. Ive had to get it serviced a couple times (New brakes, New tires) but since its pretty much assembled like a normal bike im able to take it to Rei for service and its amazing how much less they charge vs the bike shops. Its very well built and I can only imagine they have improved it. Aventon customer service is good too. I had an issue with my charger and battery, so they sent me a new charger and battery. My old battery actually still works, it just doesn't lock right so I keep it for emergencies.
