Yes, this is a previous model that has been discontinued, but it was priced at twice its current rate just two years ago. I've installed it inside a Meshify 2 Compact case, and the six RGB fans not only run quietly but also provide efficient airflow. To optimize the setup, I relocated three of these fans to the top and back of the case. My only concern is that the two tube ends at the pump have limited flexibility in terms of movement angles, which makes it somewhat challenging to position the tubes neatly within the case. Additionally, the build quality of the fan hub leaves room for improvement; it feels a bit flimsy, and the connectors can come loose when removing fan cables. Despite these minor drawbacks, I would still consider purchasing another unit at this price if I were building another PC.

If I'm about to build a PC inside my workbench (plenty of room, ventilation options, etc.), meaning I don't have to worry if it fits into a case, would this be a good option for me? What would be the constraints if not?
A word of warning for Intel users - despite being listed as LGA 1700 compatible in the Newegg listing, these kits likely do NOT contain the mounting hardware required. I ordered the 280mm version of this kit a couple weeks ago and it only had standoffs and backplate for 115x and 1200.
There is a separate upgrade kit available for the 1700 socket that EK used to make available for the cost of shipping, but when I talked to their support staff they said it was EOL and no longer avaialable from them. You'll have to buy it from Newegg (https://www.newegg.com/p/2YM-003V-00032) or another retailer. You probably want to pick up that kit at the same time to avoid paying shipping twice like I had to.
Some Asus 1700 boards (like my Z690 Tuf Gaming) are drilled to accept older coolers designed for 115x/1200, but the stack height of the 1700 socket is a little shorter than those. So, even though you can mount the cooler without the upgrade bracket and standoffs, it may not apply enough pressure to achieve good cooling.
This a really good deal for this AIO. I don't have this version but the regular 360 version so well. The extra fans in this AIO don't do much in a push/pull configuration.
i bought this last year at full price, it died in a year. the pump and 1 fan stopped working. i bought this specifically because of the reviews and because ive never had an aio fail on me. even my 10+ year old corsair h100 still works. so yeah, im never buying EK again. replaced it with a coolermaster. no problems in about 4 months so far.

I plan to go with a 13th gen Intel i7 or i9.
Thanks!
