I am considering this but live in an apartment with no charging infrastructure. I might be able to charge at my work but I'm not sure. I see a few teslas in my apartment parking lot but haven't talked to the owners. Does this make any sense for an apartment dweller ? I can't imagine taking car to a charger every 1-2 week for charge and sitting there for a few hours for full charge.
same reason i don't buy EV. if I need to account for charging time in my daily schedule, its not worth it. With a ICE car, filling gas takes 5 minutes max

If you're an average driver, you can expect to drive your Tesla for more than a decade before you think about a battery replacement. Beyond that, your Tesla can clock over one million miles if you replace the batteries and motor
Looking at the build and cheap plasticky interior quality of Teslas, I doubt they will clock a million miles. A honda crv or accord, or a toyota last 300k and they are built well. compare tesla with those, may be tesla will last 200k at best.

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
is this a joke? you really think this car will be passed down generations like an old chevy?

Hybrid is the worst. You get both a crappy engine AND a crappy electric powerplant. You get all the negatives of both without any really good example of either.
nope. you get best of both with a hybrid.

They are just going to keep cutting prices so your resale value will be garbage, the product is garbage, you will be throwing your money away on a disposable car.

My insurance is about $1,100 a year. That's about the same as a ICE car.
I got quoted 3000$ a year and that's the cheapest full insurance, right now my two ice SUVs combined is only 1500 a year, what gives?

Nope. Full coverage $500 deductible 100k/300k plus added extended warranty with Geico. Also have Umbrella insurance for another $3 million for $450. That's why I needed 100k/300k coverage.

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
Yep, and that's exactly why I just bought a regular gas vehicle. I really wanted an EV but I think we're still 10-20 years out from EVs being as reliable as existing combustion vehicles.

I feel bad for people who bought this car at 66k last year. Most of their auto loans must be underwater now.

I wonder if I should trade in my model 3 for model y. I hate all the interior noise from model 3.
Picked up a Model 3 last month, and the build quality is just not there. You would think after being in the market for 15 years or so, they would have fixed all the issues...

EV cars doesn't hold value like gas cars, and don't count on resale with the crazy price swings.

Having said that, the "dealers" in my area still live in pandemic market and charge crazy mark-ups for the gas car.

If you qualify for the tax credit, Tesla is probably the cheapest EV car to buy now, but don't expect any luxury from it. It will drive you from A to B

I took my brand new car to service the very next day Frown Frown

Underwater? More like under the crust of the earth. Those car loans will have negative equity for another 3-4 years.
