lmfao the dude in the vid spent $19k in repairs. I'm almost 250k miles in my civic and only repair I've had to do is a starter ($100)
Tesla mostly you can't repair by owner..
Even some auto shops can't repair if related to battery pack or electrical issue around battery pack, like BMS, heat pump or or PTC...

That is why repair cost is high...
The glass roof looks great but from my opinions, I rather have Normal roof. One more thing to care of
Same as frameless window can cause more issues

$1300 for the year for 2 drivers with comprehensive coverage in NJ. Got multiple discounts due to on-board surveillance and safety features.

Uh, you do realize VERY VERY small % of cars even make it to 200k, right?
Interestingly, Corolla does not make it to top 15.
#15 is 3.2% of cars (heck, #4 is barely above 6%). So, it is like 3 cars out of 100 makes it to the 200k+ miles IF your car is on top 15 on the list.

ANY car can outlast any other cars, There ARE Teslas out there with like 400k+ miles.

Even though I do not like Tesla's CEO, but I think what they are doing, getting rid of dealership is a good thing. Selling without negotiation is also a good thing.

We are talking about cars that are semi guaranteed until 100k miles (most battery/EV warranties lasts at LEAST 80k if not 100k) Not that many cars have that kind of warranty in terms of degradation. No ICE cars warranty their cars to keep 80% of efficiency after 100k miles. (Many of the EV cars have 80% or better battery capacity after 100k or 10 years warranty) Even with 80%, my car (Ioniq 5) can go about 230 miles or so. In reality, for about 95% of the time in the year, I do not need it to even go 100 miles/charge which is probably the case for 75-80% of the people out there.
Check my post about the Nissan Leaf. 90+% of the people do city driving and drive less than 100 miles per day. An EV with charging overnight at home should serve their purpose perfectly well. At 10 cents to 15 cents a Kwh in most states, it's a no brainer to get an EV, especially if you drive 50 to 60 miles every day.

But getting a Tesla for that is an overkill. Get a Bolt or a Leaf or the new VW EV. Get a cheap EV for your driving needs and get a nice gas car as your status symbol.

competitors ?
there is no competitors in US for far ...
If the government allows Chinese EV makers in, the price will drop another 50%
BYD can only complete with Tesla prices in China due to huge government subsidies. They can't sustain their current margins outside of China and would have to significantly raise their price to sell in the US. Also, none of their cars meet US safety regulations, because everyone in China isn't driving huge Murica F-150's that would destroy a BYD in a collision..

Wow. This type of thing kills me. I've had one for 6 years. Know several with an ev. Way more reliable than gas. Less maintenance. The list is endless.
Less maintenance, yes. More reliable? I have a 6-year-old Hyundai Elantra with 60,000 miles that has never had a repair, just oil changes, so your "more reliable" is a bit exaggerated. I say this as someone planning on buying an EV in the near future.

I would recommend anyone looking to buy wait till December. They might give discount on existing inventory to knock off another 3 to 4k of the msrp. Going by how much they are discounting and dropping the prices.

Having driven a few rental model 3's I've always wondered why people complain about interior noise which was non-existent every time I used one. I've owned just about every type of car and found the beat-to-crap hertz rental model 3 to be quiet and not a harsher ride than my BMWs. Granted I have slightly older early 2000's M models but their suspensions are brand new.

So a brand new tesla has less road noise than a 20 year old BMW. Got it!

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
The model S has been out since 2012 and you rarely hear about issues with them. The only issues I ever read about are minor issues or slight battery degradation issues. Since they were released, Tesla has made drastic changes in their battery technology and the parts they use so going forward they are going to be getting better and better. I wouldn't say they last forever, but they seem to be much safer and less issues than other leading car manufacturers.

I wonder if I should trade in my model 3 for model y. I hate all the interior noise from model 3.
I have a 3 and a Y. Y is heavier and different tires. The noise is less. You should wait for the "Highland" version of Model 3 to be released in USA in early 2024. It will be a bit more expensive but has significantly reduced noise.

Inventory long range in Florida went down to around 45k recently, but has been floating above 47k lately. Was considering, but insurance in Florida is scaring me away. I think I'm going to be stuck with my paid off car for a bit.

Same thing with my model 3 2020 before all the upgrades they did but I am not sure they are that significant what they did in model 3 refresh

A fully loaded Bolt EUV Premier offers a more comfortable package for much less (under $30k post-rebate, which puts it almost $10k less than the Y). Supercruise is a must-have for highway driving.

The one major downside for the Bolt is the lack of true rapid charging, which can make longer roadtrips more of a hassle (but still doable).
