The battery vs ICE argument is old shoe. The bottom line is, it's only slightly more efficient to "burn" electricity stored in a car battery vs. Gasoline after you factor in all the transmission, conversion, and storage losses, plus the more efficient power plant generation. There isn't good math for all the mining and manufacturing for the batteries.

The cost of lithium and other battery tech minerals and metals is regulated by the open market, just like oil. One difference is the US (tha ks to fracking - like it or not) is one of the worlds largest suppliers of oil, but we don't have much lithium. So, China and other nations will soon have a strategic stranglehold on the materials required for electric cars.

Electric vehicles make up a small percentage of all vehicles in the world. If that changes, so too will the economics and politics.

Where I live, I still can't get an electric vehicle because there are not enough reliable charging stations that actually charge quickly.

All that said, I will never purchase a vehicle that can be disabled remotely or have functions and features disabled remotely by anyone after I purchase it.
Lots of misconceptions in this. Not relevant to the deal for this garbage car.

Never buy a product based on future promised features.
I didn't buy it for FSD. I don't think it's worth it but if they are offering it for free I won't be mad it's up to you if you use it or not. I personally rarely even use the auto pilot which comes with the car.

Will Toyota qualified for state incentives. I know that is pretty big in CA and CO
Toyota still mark up 5-10k and provide the incentives at the same time. No deal at all.

Not sure what year you have - but I have a 2018 Model 3 and drove a 2023 as a rental recently.. It was MUCH MUCH quieter at all speeds, but especially highway speeds.

The acoustic glass everywhere, and other changes they made are adding up. a new Model Y (or 3) will certainly be quieter if you're using a 2017-2019 model 3..

Everybody thinks they save money driving a Tesla, but nobody will tell you the cost of insurance negates everything
I don't drive a Tesla, I waited patiently for a car without an iPad glued to the dash.

My EV6 is awesome, and the insurance is less than my wifes cheaper, 2 year older Palisade.

"the cons are: rough ride, noisy, tire wear, and low battery if you go longer distance than 3 hours. all I can think of."

Your electricity still comes from fossil fuel power plants, batteries are extremely expensive to replace, extra heavy weight does more damage to our infrastructure and releases more toxic tire dust while driving, battery + salt may equal huge fire that could burn down your house if in garage and will take 10k-20k gallons of water to extinguish, not good for the economy there. Also takes longer to charge than pumping gas for 4 minutes.

Mine doesn't & how do you know his does?

Honestly once you get rid of all the nuts here fighting for their team the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. It's not like these cars are right out murdering people. On the hand, this is a fairly young technology. It would be dishonest to pretend these are gold plated cars without issue. Given how polarized opinion is on these I recommend not accepting ANY anecdotal information about your choice here (I mean it's a dang car purchase, you really going to go all in because friend Jim Bob and rich Uncle Steve say they like it are you just going to drop that cash recklessly?). No thanks I'll try to stick with more objective data points

Serious question. I live in the country without fire stations close by. I've seen where batteries burn up. What causes that. My fear of electric cars are for the car batter to catch on fire and then burn my house down.

I drive 150 miles a day…. So I want a battery car. Just worry about above. Also ready where Toyota is developing different battery tech. How would those compare?
Try not to park in garage. Especially if your garage is attached to your house or your house on top of garage. But hot summer or very cold weather may cause battery damage..

Also if you worry about that, LFP battery is safer choice at this moment. But only RWD Tesla has it. I am not sure about Ford, they may have some EV also use LFP battery.

Shall Intrade in my Lexus RX350 for Model Y long range ? I don't drive much and I love drive quality of Rx350 but I love tesla tech so I am confused.
If you can drive one for a little bit I would, the noise difference inside is a little jarring, we went from a lexus 450h to a rav4 hybrid and the interior noise difference is substantial. Just be aware make sure to check it out before you switch.

this is by far the best car deal in market. I see a 32k 2021 used Camry for 31k.! and the $6 gas in CA.

just take the deal if you are still on sidelines and need state of the art driving experience. you will never drive another brand again.

If it is not Elon madness market capture mentality , this car would easily cost 60k or above !! He is creating Amazon model in automobile industry - capture market share is his highest priority .
