The cost of lithium and other battery tech minerals and metals is regulated by the open market, just like oil. One difference is the US (tha ks to fracking - like it or not) is one of the worlds largest suppliers of oil, but we don't have much lithium. So, China and other nations will soon have a strategic stranglehold on the materials required for electric cars.
Electric vehicles make up a small percentage of all vehicles in the world. If that changes, so too will the economics and politics.
Where I live, I still can't get an electric vehicle because there are not enough reliable charging stations that actually charge quickly.
All that said, I will never purchase a vehicle that can be disabled remotely or have functions and features disabled remotely by anyone after I purchase it.
Adding the extra mining. It takes about 3 years of driving to equal the fuel car. Most ev last more than 10 years has about 10 percent degradation. Try to pick one with thermal management. Europe just found a few giant mine for battery material, and the US has a couple of more difficult to extract mine. If you want to stay away from China, you need to choose to buy battery that is made of more material not mine in China. That is why you have the federal tax incentives on ev. Read the percent battery part... it is written to promote that. So pick the car that has the incentive would be good in your mind.
I am not sure why you are pushing frackin. Short sighted. Most bigger oil counties are moving toward all electric because they see the end is near.
I am not sure why a slickdealer wants a game with microtransaction. Make you have to pay money every months to play. I would rather pay more for a game and not have to pay monthly.
other cars 300-350 dollars other factors as well such as higher insurance rates.
shrug when you know you know. HF run this forum now the deals are so so.
Still feel good as it was an in-transit inventory car showing a $4650 discount and referral was still $500 off, so still a good deal.
Never thought I would buy an EV, but with all the incentives it was hard to pass up.
Looks great next to my deleted and tuned X5 3.5D

While you are saving money, you're also driving an old car with old tech and old safety. I won't even talk about worn out surfaces and smell...even a new car at three years starts getting a little gamey.
Driving a new car is almost always nicer, so who cares how many miles a car will last...it's like talking about my iPhone. I'm getting rid of it within three years or less...
This is Slickdeals...not frugal living or the pennypincher.
