Prices continue to drop, where they'll stop nobody knows.
Sales will probably drop even more since buyers will wait guessing why should I buy today when it will be cheaper next week, and at some point they'll be wrong.
Yeah, I know, they always drop over time.

Having a hard time deciding between this or the MERC319 7800 XT for $539. I'm upgrading from a 1080 so I'm going to measurably feel the difference either way. Are the performance gains between the RX 6800 and the 7800 XT worth $139 + tax?

Av1 encoding if you're streaming is the big sell, otherwise it's basically the 6800xt. For the 500 MSRP I'd jump on the 7800xt but don't think I'd pay more than for the encoding

Depends on your budget and whether you wouldn't mind paying 35% more for a 15–18% performance gain.
I own a 6800, and it works great. When I bought my 6800, I was at my budget limit. But now, because I tend to play single-player games at 4k ultra settings, I often wonder if I should upgrade to a 7800 XT to get just a little more performance. I hope this helps.
PS: Watch Hardware Unboxed's YouTube review of the 7800 XT. They also show 6800 performance in their charts. Gamers Nexus also has a good review of the 7800 XT.

I am hesitant to buy any AMD graphics. I've got a 6500xt for my budget build that uninstalls it's drivers every windows update and randomly. It is such an annoyance. Did a factory reset, driver wiping tools, etc. no fix. Any advice?
If you already used DDU (google it), made sure you booted in safe mode to run DDU and you're still having issues, I'd do a clean install of windows. Not an upgrade or repair.
Yeah, I'm of the opinion that a regular 6800 at $400 is NOT a deal right now.
Gpu prices went up from 4, 5 months ago. Got a 6900xt for 600 ish 6 months ago.
Now it's 700. BF right around the corner. I'd save rn to get more out of my $

At that price you might as well get an RTX 4070. More stable drivers and feature set + big advantage in ray traced games like Cyberpunk.
I own a 6800 and am thinking about returning it. Runs games OK but was freaked out about 12gb cards running out of VRAM but the truth is, by the time 16gb is required for newer games, this cards performance will be completely obsolete.
