It is absolute bullshit to make digital codes expire on products that are still sitting in stores or for sale on online sites. Make them one-time use only for sure so people can't share them, but I shouldn't have to wonder if the brand new product I am ordering will have an expired code.
One deal to rule them all !
This will NOT include a digital copy.

I bought the same set on Prime Day, and even the packaging now says just, "4K Ultra HD" - it used to say, "... + digital copy"

If, by some crazy chance, you got a set WITH a digital slip.. there's still a 99.99% chance it's already been expired by WB.

Greedy WB.

Does anyone know if this includes a digital code? There's apparently a version that did have a MA code and one of the review videos on Amazon shows different packaging with the MA logo on the back of the box. Blu-ray.com says the digital code is expired. I just want to confirm.

WB expired any digital code older than a year or two. Kind of sucks. Most if their discs with codes have an expiration date that they enforce now.

The newer releases have the digital code expiration date shown on the front of the slip cover now. I double check if it's a WB release.

Is this a thing?!?! I have the Blu-ray set of all 6 movies, but would much prefer the more recently remastered 4k with Atmos for my setup. I'm not like a total hardcore LOTR fan, but to watch once a year or something, $30 for this set seems worth it. I WOULD just love to see the special features as well. I usually give my older versions of movies when I upgrade to friends/family, but no one has claimed the DVDs of LOTR (never got The Hobbit series on DVD) and I really see a good way to justify having potentially four versions of LOTR (DVD, Blu-ray, 4k, 4k w/special features).

You will see a lot of opinions; I think movie collectors actually favor the remastered 1080p Blu-ray over this 4k set due to heavy noise reduction (common complaint with 4k UHDs nowadays). A smaller number prefer the original Blu-ray because the green tint they grew up with has been removed in the newer discs. It mostly just sucks to buy the same movie over and over and over again over your lifetime...

I do appreciate that. I would just love to experience the Atmos. I have a 5.1.4 set up and have to imagine this sounds incredible. If there was a way…
