I got one mid-summer. The gas start is odd. It just has a small tube with a flame on the end. I don't know why they don't have two of them for when you want to light both charcoal holders. For this, I bring them both in the center of the grill until they both catch and then move them to the sides.
If you do direct and indirect zones, the gas assist works just fine.
For coated grates, they are hard to clean. The normal burn off doesn't work. So I bring them in and scrub them with a dish rag.
Might look for stainless steel replacement grates so I could just use a BBQ scraper.
The top is attached with a hinge. This stops many 3rd party accessories. I guess you can always unscrew it and plug the holes... but it doesn't have a hook or holder.
I put it together myself. took 60 minutes. I think it's a great purchase at this price.

One thing I noticed is that the "gas assist" is either full "on" or "off." There is really no controlling how big the flame is.
With that being said, don't bother turning the gas valve open like 5 turns, since it has no effect. Just turn it maybe a full turn and you're good to go. No sense in turning it all the way to the stop to ignite.

I am thinking of getting one of these for replacing the grates since the heavy duty ones included have a coating and can't be scrubbed.

This also has a removeable center so you can use other accessories like

and/or

If you missed the shipping sale price, standby, it seems to happen often. Might even get clearance markdowns as it gets colder.

Besides the grate, how are you liking the grill?
I use it often. Probably will use it a couple more time before winter since I usually cookout to keep the heat outside.

Glad to hear that! Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow/Wednesday. 😃
For a journey from the east coast to the west coast it fared really well. The box was obviously worn but it had no holes or significant damage.
The grill itself only has one scuff/scratch mark on the table top that wore through the paint. No other damage was noted.
Assembly went fairly smoothly. The beginning part was the most difficult and it seemed to got easier as it went.
All in all, I'm happy with it and I look forward to doing the inaugural burn in and cook. 👍
