The same goes for hole saws, drill a 1/4" hole first then switch to the hole saw. It will help to prevent from bending the 1/4" pilot bit built into the hole saw.

So, it's a matter of faith in the brand. That is why I was originally thinking of buying this, but I won't be using this bit as much, so a Harbor Freight one seems alright enough for me.
