I got this printer 2 years ago. Some things I regret:
-the wifi is only 2.4ghz
-sometimes when the printer goes to sleep, it will not wake up until I manually wake it up
-there is no ethernet port
-all of my smart devices are connected to the 5ghz network, I have to disconnect from the 5ghz network and connect to the 2.4ghz just to print
-
The devices should all see each other, are they connected to the same router, if you have multiple routers you need to have one managing connections.
price out replacement cannon toners and youll see the long term cost of the brother is much cheaper.

The Gas Gift Card has been out of stock for the last few weeks, at least for me.

Looks like gas card cannot be redeemed on brother printers:

Offer excludes: 1) gift & prepaid cards; 2) HP, Samsung, Canon, Epson,Brother, Lexmark, & Microsoft Surface products;

do you see the gas card coupon in this link?
https://www.officedepot.com/a/cou...=marketing

change quantity to 1 and then add to cart, then add the printer to your cart.

To be honest, this is not something like frontpage deal. The refurished version is on sale from time to time around $250ish. If you consider the gas card and the cash back site like real cash, the final price of the printer is $262 before tax, so not too bad compare with the refurished version.

If you don't need the scanning function, you can consider the HL-L3270CDW from Amazon.
There are other cheaper HP/Canon laser printer on sale at Amazon as well, but their replace toner is much more expensive than Brother.

Would the Canon MF656 be a better value (it's just a few dollars more at $305 currently) because it has everything including duplex scan and print, and it's a Canon! yeah agree with the previous post; unless you're a diehard brother supporter, seems kind of expensive for the feature set vs. the canon currently on sale.

no idea on the third-party toners though, at least the canon doesn't have any yet

If your 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks can't communicate, you've got a problem with how the network is configured. It's possible that multiple devices are acting as routers.Generally I intentionally leave low bandwidth devices like these on 2.4ghz intentionally to ensure maximum bandwidth and stability for devices like laptops and streaming devices that need it on 5ghz

I used to have that same issue with my hp officejet 8600 pro. Once I went ethernet I never had that problem anymore. Good to know
