I look for the write speeds - the description on Amazon's page claims this one will do 130MB/s writes. One on sale a few days ago said NOTHING about write speeds. Even the spec sheet linked on that page - which is supposed to have the hard numbers - said only "write speeds will be lower."

I hate trying to figure out these SD cards. I just ordered a 512 EVO Plus, is this one better or worse than the Plus and why? They both say "3 A2 V30" so I have no idea which is better.

I paid $60 for the 1tb version in August of 2023 so it makes sense...
But.. does it actually write at 130MB/s ? With say a large 1gb file just to see what the real write speed is without the buffer

OK, I'm confused. Since Samsung doesn't make a 1TB card, how did you buy one for $60?

Chinese junk doesn't count....

they are the same, just rebranded and amazon has the rights to the 'select' version.

Off topic, but alternatively, if you need faster speeds for a few bucks more. Get an NVMe drive and case. I've gotten a case for as little as 10 bucks (10gb/s version). And you can choose your drive.
So unless you need micro SD to plug it in a phone/tablet/raspberrypi or something, I don't see the point in these. Many phones nowadays don't have an SD slot, making these little obsolete or niche product imo.

Get it price matched at a local brick and mortar store. Amazon mixes in third-party fakes with the authentic cards. I got two fake Samsung PRO microSDs in a row before I gave up and went to Best Buy.

Cameras use these still (point and shoot, security cameras, dash cams). I wish there were more cellphones with microSD cards.

Is this reliable enough to leave in a SD card slot of a laptop (to increase storage space)?

Should be fine. I have a SD card in laptop for years no issue if you use it mainly for storage

This is in not a recent price. I bought one a couple weeks ago for $30 and a Pro chip for $35. And yes the Evo Select name is just a name exclusive to Amazon for the Evo Plus I think.
