Another zinger about younger generations never being good enough.
Great book. Don't let the motorcycle maintenance part of the title scare you off…it's more of a philosophical road trip.
I was excited to read this book after seeing it so widely liked, but it fell way short of my expectations. One of the worst books I've ever read.

Love it. Going for a 50/50 road/trail ride on my KLX300 this afternoon.
After working on cars, homes and anything else that's broken, getting back into bikes is just heaven.

Read this when I was 16, my first philosophy book.

It blew my little mind and made me a much better person.

Actually went on to get a philosophy degree, which wouldn't have happened without this book.

Now I'm 50.

Time to revisit.

Thanks OP.

Great book. Deep dive into contemporary psychology via motorcycle maintenance allegory. Of course, it will likely exceed the recent generations' capacity to comprehend. Not enough pictures or video links.

Although likely a redundant comment, this book is not about motorcycle maintenance, nor Zen Buddhism or related religions / philosophies.

IT IS a philosophy book, and a difficult read at that. I have read it twice, and while I did not 'enjoy' the read, I can state that this book WAS WELL WORTH THE READ. This book allowed me (and others) to enhance methodology in addressing problems, real (mechanical) and personal.

I did and was actually disappointed on the second read, but YMMV.

They never have been, they never will be. Just ask the older generations.

Funny you should say that because I loved the first half when there were more references to motorcycles but the second half got way deep into quality.

This was a must read back in "my day," along with "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." 😉
