It can be of dubious usefulness. When we've flown out of Dulles on Aer Lingus, CLEAR was basically worthless because the security we needed to use did not have a CLEAR line. Aer Lingus also didn't participate with TSA Precheck, so that didn't do anything either. Global Entry was nice for the return trip though.

I have CLEAR simply for the fact that AMEX Platinum gives it to me. On a business trip a few months ago, I was able to use CLEAR to save about 4-5 minutes in the security line compared to my TSA Precheck companions (only moderately crowded at the time at BWI). Useful? Sure. $190 worth of useful? Probably not.

For ATL, it's best to have both. The precheck/Global Entry line is hella long, and Clear+Precheck moves you to the front of the precheck line.

If you have elite status with certain airlines you can get this membership for much cheaper. Amex platinum usually will reimburse some fees for this as well.

Clear isn't in that many airports (46 [clearme.com]). Unless your local airport is one that has it, or you frequent a destination that has it, probably not worth the $$ unless you get it as a free perk from a CC.

Clear isn't going to save you time if there's little to no line @ TSA, either.
