Not a terrible price if you specifically WANT something like this, but from what I've heard and my experience, canola, veg, or grapeseed oils are the best to season cast iron and carbon steel. Plus that's almost always gonna be the cheapest option.

It's soybean oil, beeswax, and palm oil.

Just use a high smoke point oil...much cheaper and you can use it for other things

Interesting, and cheap enough to give it a go. Thanks.

Make your own seasoning paste, or buy this. I heard Crisbee is also good.

Recipe
1 part bees wax
1.5 parts Grapeseed Oil
1.5 parts Sunflower Oil

Measured by weight. Instructional video can be found on YouTube @ Cook Culture date 8/20/21 Title "I'll show you how to make cast iron seasoning"

Link: https://youtu.be/TgCsDTR5AEw?feature=shared

Can use on Cast Iron, and Carbon Steel cookware.

Used to use this for a few years (liquid, pick, etc). Finally went back to crisco and I think crisco just works better (plus it's cheaper). Just my 0.02.

I thought grapeseed oil is a popular oil to use for CI seasoning, what's wrong with seed oil? TIA

Seed oil is great for seasoning, specifically grapeseed oil. Your not cooking with it, your seasoning the pan, and it will be polymerized.

Soybean oil is high in linoleic acid, which is bad for your health. You won't end up consuming much of it through the seasoning but it is best to avoid it when you can. Tallow or ghee are high heat and can season a pan

Lowest price that I'm aware of (or can see on CCC). I had a price alert on it waiting for it to get below $10, so was surprised for it drop to $5. I haven't used it, but excited to try it on my cast iron and carbon steel pans.
