Or make them their own Chipotle accounts.
So you used to get a free burrito if you went in costume… now you get $1.50 - $2 off? lol, and you have to order online so they skimp on serving sizes. Chipotle has really gone downhill

I was able to submit the order online through the app, this was a very poor experience. When I went to the store the there were probably 30 people in line, for the my order through the app the status was never updated... so basically you have to go in and then ask if it is ready or just go through all of the pick up orders that are waiting for pick up. I'm assuming that progressing the order through the stages just adds unnecessary overhead for the already busy staff BUT some people do pay attention to those stages and just go in when it says that it is ready for pick up

Or the demand was higher than they thought and they didn't want to lose too much money.

Agree, I may be paranoid. It just looks bad.

This promotion was known well in advance and the tech team should've been aware of that.

Having worked for big company that does promotions like this, I tell you a couple hours before, we have hundreds of servers scaled and ready for when the promotion hits. Even during the promotion if we have more traffic than anticipated, we distribute the load across various regions and have those spin up more servers too.

On top of that, we would run a mock trial and see if our infrastructure is able to handle such a load like we anticipate. They must have outsourced IT or something for them not to be ready for something like this.

It sounded like she saw that exact statement on some deal website, so she was regurgitating what she read somewhere…wasn't English, but the 16 year old kid running the register gave zero sh*ts…

makes sense. It's also not like this is the first time they're doing this promo.

I recall that Chipotle has done this BOORITO Halloween promo before. I was a mall that had a Chipotle across the street. So why not. Just got my before Chipotle got slammed.

Brian Niccol's and his CIO (if Chipotle has one) just dropped the ball on this. Chipotle probably offshore their IT and went cheap. The stock CMG has a multiple like a tech company because of their growth. And they were using tech (their app) to sell, Chipotlanes. Well seems now that's a big lie. Go cheap on IT and give the money to Brian Niccol's and the C-Suite.

I have Chipotle GC and will be using it up. But I will never buy Chipotle GCs again. And never buy CMG Stock again. Their CEO simply dropped the ball.

Must have been NYC, where the "crazies" outnumber the "normals" these days!

I'm not tipping at any fast food restaurant. They're getting paid hourly as it is. It's supposed to reward above and beyond service; making burritos is literally the employee's job. Tipping culture has gotten out of hand.
Agreed, especially at the drive-thru. If you're ordering at the counter and the person preparing your food is exceptionally nice (as mine was) and adding more ingredients, etc. then a small tip is appropriate. I actually wanted to tip this person, but there was no option since I wasn't using the app/website.
Instead, I called the GM and complimented her (as she was very nice and helpful under major stress). Hopefully, that will be more valuable to her than a tip!

Also you need to tip them? Drive up window order? Sad
You're not obligated to tip them. It's optional. In these situations, there's always a "no tip" option.
