I can't speak for every electric car but most electric cars efficiency is between 3-5 miles/kWh. To see how much range you get per night is a simple math equation. 32A X 240V = 7680kW. Let's then round down to 7kW due to inefficiencies anywhere along the system. Multiply 7kW with 3-5 miles/kWh and you get between 21-35 miles of charging/hour. Let's say you start charging at midnight to maximize on time of use billing and you leave for your work place at 7am. You have 7 hour x 21-35 miles of charging/hour = 147 to 245 miles of charging/night. Batteries may get bigger but efficiency will most certainly improve. Unless your daily commute runs over 150 miles every day, then this charger will suffice no matter how big the battery is. The only factors that matter are the cars efficiency and the length of your commute.

Not bad. Though price is $79 out the door after tax and shipping. Looks like the tax is based on the full MSRP price, not the discounted price.

What is the catch here? Are these locked to send info to SMUD? Are they selling them because they are compatible with a curtailment program?

50A NeoCharge splitters are also $50. These I think are less useful, because there aren't many 50A loads which make sense to use a switch.

If you have 2 JuiceBoxes, you can use boxes on a single circuit with power sharing in most jurisdictions now.

1) Yes, you could use an adapter, but it wouldn't be to code. You could swap plugs or get a Neocharge splitter, which are sort of expensive. You can set the EVSE to limit itself to 24 amps and not worry about the car.
2) Installing another circuit might not be too expensive. SMUD is offering $500 credit and last install in LA metro was only $780. (Bolt come with a virtual $1500 credit.)
3) You could get a toggle switch (30A, 2 pole regular old switches exist) and hardwire in the EVSE and leave the plug. It could be pretty cheap to do this if you mount the switch externally. Unlike a splitter, you would run one or the other.

No catch. All these energy efficiency rebates are subsidized by ratepayers/taxpayers money. SMUD is great. Their rates is about 40-50% lower than PG&E/SDG&E

If you live in Pasadena, CA, Pasadena Water and Power offers a $600 rebate for Wi-Fi enabled chargers. I've bought the Juicebox 40 on Amazon, and then applied for the rebate. Recently I replaced it with a Wallbox Pulsar Plus, and got the rebate approved for that as well.

Holy cow. My wife & I combined don't put 150 miles in a week!

EVs are probably not the thing for you at this moment, unless you have charging at work as well. or maybe you need something like a Lucid Air or Model S that can go 350+ miles on a single charge.
