I can't speak for every electric car but most electric cars efficiency is between 3-5 miles/kWh. To see how much range you get per night is a simple math equation. 32A X 240V = 7680kW. Let's then round down to 7kW due to inefficiencies anywhere along the system. Multiply 7kW with 3-5 miles/kWh and you get between 21-35 miles of charging/hour. Let's say you start charging at midnight to maximize on time of use billing and you leave for your work place at 7am. You have 7 hour x 21-35 miles of charging/hour = 147 to 245 miles of charging/night. Batteries may get bigger but efficiency will most certainly improve. Unless your daily commute runs over 150 miles every day, then this charger will suffice no matter how big the battery is. The only factors that matter are the cars efficiency and the length of your commute.

Not bad. Though price is $79 out the door after tax and shipping. Looks like the tax is based on the full MSRP price, not the discounted price.

Oh yeah. We SMUD customers are very thankful for their low rates. IMO, during the crisis that hit PG&E, due to the fires caused by electrical transmission lines that burnt a small city, the government regulators should have just broken up PG&E into small chunks and let them be absorbed by local utility companies like SMUD, Roseville Electric etc.

He or she is probably referring to lack of Level2 charging stations in apartment complexes. When I lived in an apartment, I could not buy an EV as there was no means of charging it. I personally did not want to go spend 30-45 minutes at a fast charger every other day to be able to drive. But once I bought a home, we immediately bought an EV.

But this situation is changing. in my city a new apartment complex has come up with about 8 chargepoint stations with 2 chargers each.

My friend, you deserve better. No one deserves a 300 mile(!) daily commute. That's a minimum of 4 hours driving a day. Be kind to yourself and find either alternate housing or alternate job.

I have the 40 amp charger. The charger works fine. Can't say the same about the app. Make sure you read the app reviews and are comfortable with what they say before purchasing this charger. Especially regarding smart charging as the app seems to go out of its way to stop you from charging your vehicle.

It should be on their website if they do. Here in Arizona with APS they are doing $250 rebate. Ended up getting the Emporia 48A EVSE and it works great.

I could just be a smooth brain but I think the issue is, you need safe less risky customers to pay for all the issues of servicing other more risky customers due to their rural location or in hill country that might be more susceptible to downed lines, fires and large lawsuits. If you broke PG&E then the more rural customers would have sky high unaffordable rates. So gotta scoop in all the people on the valley to offset.
