That doesn't even make sense. Not true at all. They don't have anything special compared to any other laptop except for the touchscreen digitizer.
The only thing I could see being a contributor to a touch screen laptop not lasting as long would be a touch screen laptop would be much more likely to be rough handled verses a standard laptop that is going to sit calmly on a solid surface 99.9% of the time. But that isn't the product's fault. Product A gets coddled where Product B gets used and abused due to the very design.
Tip: Whenever in doubt about specs, always lookup PSREF. Occasionally a system is not on there, but generally most configurations are (other than custom-builds, obviously).

Thanks for the info. This Lenovo looks good to me but it is limited to a max of 16G ram per the spec.
If I buy a laptop now, the first thing I look for is the option to expand to 32G RAM or more.
Consider 32G laptop RAM ddr4 are around $50 these days. RAM is getting cheaper.

I would be shocked if you couldn't put a 16 or 32GB module in the SODIMM slot; computers going back 5+ years have supported 32GB modules. The specs' stated max RAM may be just what they sell. However, only a max of 16GB (8GB soldered plus 8GB of whatever is installed in the slot) will operate in dual-channel mode.
Ive been looking for a while and this is a great deal for a i7 15.6 laptop. I've seen nothing close with backlit keyboard, 300 nit touch screen and upgradeable ram.
