Update - Thanks for BeigeIdea558 for the Walmart Tip

Walmart [walmart.com] has ASUS ZenWi-Fi Whole-Home Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System XD6 White - 2 Pack, Coverage up to 5, 400 sq. ft. & 4+ Rooms, 5400Mbps, AiMesh, Lifetime Free Internet Security, Parental Control, Easy Setup for $186.99. Shipping is Free (and free return until 1/31/2024) OOS

NewEgg [newegg.com] has ASUS ZenWiFi Whole-Home Dual-Band Mesh WiFi 6 System XD6 White - 2 Pack, Coverage up to 5,400 sq.ft & 4+ Rooms, 5400Mbps, AiMesh, Lifetime Free Internet Security, Parental Control, Easy Setup for $186.99. Shipping is Free

Lowest Price I have seen this at. The main difference between this and the XD8 is XD8 is tri-band (for setting up a dedicated 5GHz backhaul to your nodes), and this is AX5400 vs. AX6600. Of course the lowest price I have seen the XD8 is at $280, and this is $100 cheaper. If you have your home wired up and don't really need the dedicated 5GHz backhaul option, I think this is a no brainer compared to the XD8.

Product Description from Store
  • Banish WiFi Dead Zone - Mesh WiFi system with unique antenna placement delivers strong WiFi to every corner of your home, providing total wireless speed of 5400Mbps.
  • Hassle Free Control - 3 steps setup and easy management with ASUS Router App
  • Always Up-to-date Protection - The lifetime free cloud-based security powered by Trend Micro makes sure your privacy on connected devices is protected.
  • Parental Controls - URL filter and scheduling allow you to protect your family from inappropriate content and unhealthy Internet usage behavior.
  • AiMesh Supported- Mix and match ZenWiFi with AiMesh-compatible routers to form powerful and flexible whole-home WiFi system

I came across this deal earlier this morning and discovered that you can purchase this same item thru Walmart.com with Newegg selected as the seller. This way if you need to return it you could take it to a Walmart store under their holiday return policy up until 1/31/24. Else Newegg currently states there are no returns or exchanges on this item.

I actually just tried and returned this set from Amazon, ended up being a lot slower than my old Orbi mesh set up. Speedtest on my Orbi was 5-600mbps at the satellite location but the Asus tops out at 300mbps. Was hoping for better since it's wifi6.

Were you using wireless or wired backhaul? Was the orbi dial or tri band?

Probably not. He lists what devices are supported.

Gnuton is an offshoot that has a few mesh asus devices. I don't think this is one either.

Yeah I was curious if this was better than my current RBK53 orbi AC3000 setup....anyone else that has switched your feedback would be useful. I had a lot of issues early on with the orbi in terms of stability but it's been pretty rock solid for at least 2 years. I just wonder if I could get any additional range primarily. Also I still feel some devices have trouble connecting to the orbi at times. Seems I have more initial setup issues than I am used to.

I had these and really liked them. I upgraded to another system, but now they're in my parents place and solved all their low signal issues with their ring devices. I paid about $100 more when I got them, this is a pretty great price.

This is a great deal for those who are looking for connectivity , But if you are looking for great speeds - this may not be for you .
Here's a review of this particular model - its recommended if you already have a wired backhaul

Dual band is fine if you can hard wire (ethernet back haul). Otherwise, yeah, tri-band or bust.

I think overall, this isn't better. The RBK53 is Tri-band, and while AX has it's benefits, most of the benefits come from if all/most of your devices are AX compatible and you have a lot of them (i.e. smart home). And as far as I know most Wi-Fi based smart home devices aren't AX compatible yet. If you want an ASUS AX with Tri-Band, the ASUS XD8 [amazon.com] would be the one you are looking, but that's not on sale right now. Wait for BF.

The price shows as $211.86 for me on Walmart.com. Chat says the seller changed the price?

Note the orientation of the internal antennas when you think about placement. (Teardown at https://www.blacktubi.com/review/...nwifi-xd6/)

Same-floor coverage is great, but multi-floor coverage is only good pointing along the length of the router, much worse going across it or directly above/below.
