Here's a Tom's Hardware review if anyone's interested

https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...p400a-case

and the "spec page" from the manufacturer

https://www.phanteks.com/Eclipse-P400A.html

One thing that has me scratching my head in confusion in this day and age with 2.5 form factor SSD drive prices becoming more common in builds (cheaper, just overall better than mechanical drives if you don't need say a cheap 4 TB or bigger drive) why phanteks hasn't bothered to make the optional hard drive brackets capable of mounting 2.5 form factor ssd drives as well as the mechanical drives like say the drive bay cage in the Lian Li 216 case (which is admittedly more expensive - I guess that's my answer?) ... it's true that a metal bracket to pop into a 3.5 drive bay is only like $7 or so at amazon but that still just adds needlessly to the cost. If you're like me you have extra 250 GB older ssd drives that will work just fine for say as a game drive or windows backups that you'd like to go on using.

As the manufacturer's "spec sheet" linked above states you can always just mount two of your 2.5 ssd drives on the metal "wall" behind the motherboard, same place you'd route the cables in if memory serves me correctly.

The P400A version is listed as including two 120mm front fans, but has mounts for three.

This would be perfect if it had type c also on the top with the other usb ports.

I have the old version of this case and it's good just wish it had type c on the front.

All of the 3.5in drive mounts also have holes for 2.5in drive mounting.

You have it backwards... There are no mounts for 2.5" ssds... So your point is null

?? the optional hdd bracket clearly has holes in the bottom of it for mounting 2.5" drives, you can see it in the pics.

this looks like a lot of case for the money, for instance there appears to be a slide mount dust filter on the bottom.

I see on the pic of their 3.5 HDD bracket on their website that there's holes on the bottom of the mounting bracket. You only need 1 screw hole to mount an SSD (2 would be better but if there's at least 1, you're fine). Even double sided tape is enough to hold a drive in place.

It you want to spend additional money, you can buy a 3.5 to 2x 2.5 bracket.

There's plenty of options.

a rather strange review... he argues that dust filters on the front of the case aren't needed because they cut down on airflow, when in fact they should be an included option on every case... anyone who is doing a serious build will be using thicker fans for more static pressure and better airflow, and again if you were serious you'd cut out most of the metal grating that blocks the airflow in the first place.

then he claims that you can't mount an aio in the top of the case? when there are clearly holes for fan mounting, which could be adapted for mounting an aio radiator with washers and slightly longer screws.

when building a computer, you need to be flexible in your thinking, to get the best results.

Had the original P400 and love it. Cant mount a rad up top because of clearance. You can mount fans up there, but not both. Anything thicker than 25mm and it will block almost all the plugs up top.

so not tall enough at the top? i had something similar with my old fractal r5 case, had to use really longnose pliers to put the fan connectors on, and unbolt the radiator to get at the power supply plugs.

i recently mounted a 420mm aio on the top of that case, it's thick and it's pretty ugly Confused i could have mounted it on the inside if i had cut down that big useless metal heatsink over the rear external connector panel on the motherboard... it would have hung so low that i couldn't use tall heatsinks on the ram, and if i was air cooling the cpu it probably wouldn't have cleared the cooler.
