These were out before VAVA iirc. I have this one mounted upside down on the ceiling above my 110" screen and it's been great.

How far away is the projector from your screen ?

Do you use an ALR screen? If so, is it upside down too?

Bad idea to have alr upside down. You would have some weird reflection issues since you need to be on the underside of the reflection on the sawtooth. You would be on the underside of the black side with it upside down.

The back of the projector would be about 5-6in from the screen. I have the LSP9T which has a better throw ratio. For a three year old projector, Samsung has some of the best throw ratios out there, and can be adjusted to basically any size. I was able to do ~180" with the lsp9t and after focus adjustment the upper corners were sharp.

Yes. The much more expensive 9T is their triple laser.

2200 lumens sounds kind of dim, how does this do in a room with some ambient light? Better to go with a conventional projector?

I have this. As long as the wall doesnot receive sunlight directly, projector is great even with some ambient lighting

Yes, I have this and its been great. I have put it about 16-17" from the wall to project on 120" screen.
